Heritage Cafe & Bar Hallstatt

They seat your first if you’re staying in the hotel. We set up a reservation but we were also staying there. I saw them turn away walk ins but in was a bit busy so that’s understandable. The food was very good and the apple strudel was one of the best I’ve had in Austria. The wait staff is very kind and I’m always so impressed and feel lucky when people speak English.

I had the spinach ball veggie plate- which was very yummy. It does have beats in it which always taste very earthy to me but the overall meal was delicious.

I stay in this hotel, and the interior is very warm, and simple style. the night meal tonight is dark beer with pork. really enjoy it. and hope everyone here have good time.

My family enjoy both breakfast and dinner for consecutive two days here. I’d like to strongly recommend its delicious dishes and desserts with local draft beer during dinner time. Its breakfast includes everything you want to start a fresh day.

For some online comments about poor service attitude, I do not feel so. On the contrary, I think that it might be due to different culture and dining experience. For Asian taste like me, Austrian food is salty and heavy with meat and the chef has adjusted a little bit. I also suggest Asian guests order drinks or water.

Overall, it is a good restaurant in a convenience location with lake view.

We came here for dinner as it’s one of the few places still open for dinner in the off season / mid April. Ordered the rump steak, pasta bolognaise and veal schnitzel and they were very good especially the home made pasta. Had the Apple crumble with ice cream for dessert. It was so good we came back the second night and this time we had the catfish pasta pesto - again superb. Price was a little on the high side but then this is Hallstatt. Highly recommended!

As a guest of the hotel a complementary buffet breakfast is provided and this review will cover that. The selection is really good with fresh fruit, yoghurt for those who prefer a lighter breakfast to breads, smoked fish, scrambled eggs, sausages and a variety of cheeses for those who want a more substantial meal. There is a coffee machine and juice bar as well. Service is really good.

The food is excellent here. I experienced only friendly staffs both nights that I ate here.

The bad reviews are because of misunderstanding. I checked with Georgy, the priority is always hotel guests first, reservation second and if any tables are left, then walk in public customers. So call first if u want to eat here. Many walk in customers with no reservations were turn away, doesn’t matter race or nationality as there were many reserved tables today.

We were cautious going in due to the 3.6 rating displayed at the time, but ended the night extremely pleased with the dinner and service. Would definitely visit again.

Lovely place especially when it’s raining outside. The schnitzel is juicy enough and delicious with same delicious side dish. The main waiter is also cool with some cool mustache.

Very nice breakfast. Enjoyed breakfast with a view of the lake as was staying here at the hotel as guest during the NY period.
Had NY Eve and NY 2020 Dinner here. Nice service and food was good. Crowded during dinner service as one of the better restaurants in Hallstatt. You will get a nice view of the lake during meal times. Poor service crew were they were very busy due to lack of staff at the restaurant.

Located right next to the ferry point, my husband and I were having low expectations for the food as the restaurant could be full just because of its prime location. We were both pleasantly surprised that the char grilled fish, pork schnitzel and chestnut soup were all pretty delicious! Service was great as staff were kind and approachable. Do consider dropping by for their hot chocolate with rum if you are looking for a place to dine!

Very good food. We had the deer ragu and spinach knödel which both were excellent! The service was good and the prices were fair.

It was really good especially in such a touristic place. Prices were ok, not exaggerated in comparison to other restaurants.

Good view of the lake with great food. The trout costs around $20vand the salad is very fresh.

Tasty food, cozy atmosphere

I don't know how this place got so badly rated. Refined food at acceptable priced. I had a fish tartar for 15 eur, and a grilled trout for 25. Good wine too (4 eur). Nice view too when it isn't storming. I got lucky with a walk-in but call ahead if you can,certainly for bigger groups.

The staff in the restaurant is friendly. Not many restaurants you can choose in winter in this town. This one probably be the best choice.

That’s how I got my plate served…. But the rest was tasty! Yum-yum!
