Decent traditional food in a stunning setting overlooking the mountains. A spectacular spot for food after looking at the view or visiting the ice caves

It is a unique experience to enjoy the serenity of the mountain when all day-trip tourists have left after the evening, and to spend quiet moments enjoying the sunset and sunrise, or simply star gazing in absolute darkness at night.

I stayed in a dormitory with 10+ beds. There are several toilets and a shower room on different floors, each for male and female. The facilities are clean.

The restaurant is open at night and one can have dinner here until 9+ pm.

I loved the location! Up in the mountains, away from the cities and people! The fact that you had to take the cable car to get up to the peak/hotel was both a pro, and a con. However, overall, it was overwhelmingly pro because there was no crowds or clutter for relaxing and breathtaking events such as sunrise and sunset. If the cable car ran earlier/later, or the peak was more easily accessible, the slots to view these amazingly beautiful things would have been crowded with people. The owners of the lodge were incredibly friendly and helpful. I loved sitting and chatting with them about the mountain, the village, about life, and food.
The upstairs dorm got a bit stuffy and warm in the mornings. Just wake up early and go experience the outdoors! You won’t like if you: miss the sunrise, miss the sunset, don’t go out and explore! So make sure you do all of those things!

If I could give the location 10 out of 5 stars, I definitely would! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to stay among the Alps situated above Hallstatt and I cannot recommend it enough! Please note that the only way to access the hotel is via cable car so plan to be at the cable car parking lot no later than 4p. We narrowly made the very last cable car of the day on our way up and just didn’t plan enough to know the schedule, so it worked out in our favor. Once you’re at the Lodge, anything you may need for a couple of nights in the mountains is there and ready for you. We loved the Wienerschnitzel so much! I can’t remember the name of the soup, but it had crispy friend potatoes (?) on top of it and it was to die for. We had to order dessert with vanilla sauce, almost like a cheesecake but in my opinion, better! The staff here were excellent and treated us very well, accommodating us with anything we needed. Take full advantage of the area and visit the lookout points, take a long hike, do some rock climbing, or just bring a book for the terrace views. They will wow you, for sure!

Gorgeous view, authentic building. The food was excellent, and the staff was very polite and friendly. Prices are not over-hyped, but regular restaurant prices. Live local traditional music. Splendid experience:)

After a hiking 🥾 we went to take a rest. Wanted to order but you have to go yourself order pay and bring to your table, Austrian way of cutting on personal trying to maximize the income. Food nothing special and quite expensive. But the view is outstanding wowwww.

It is an excellent restaurant on the top of the mountain where you can rest after a long walk between the three main points. It has traditional dishes and classic ones—significant variants of coffee and tea. You will get execcelent service here for a reasonable price, especially if you take in mind it’s on 2000 meters high. Highly recommend the place!

Great panoramic view on the glacier! We ate Wienerschnitzel, it was alright nothing special.
For ordering you have to go inside, waiters won't take your order.

Nice place to get food. The outdoor seatings provide a good view of the surrounding. Some toilets do not have tap and washing basin but some have. So do look around if you want to wash your hands.

We loved it! Everything about this place is great- the view, hotel itself, hiking paths (we went in the summer). Rooms are very clean and cosy, food is good, and the Staff is very polite and speak very well english. Definitely recommended.

Worth every penny and every minute spent getting there, for yhe view alone. Not to mention hospitality and food.

The outdoor terrace is unbelievable, even in cold weather.

They have a great selection of warming soups and ice cold beers.

My favorite was the goulash soup and the 'apfelsteudel mit vanilla sauce'.

Child friendly, child seat available ( x2 ).

Stayed here with family of 8 people travelling around Europe. Family room with shared bathroom was small but cozy. Great host and services! Super friendly and we enjoyed our stay. Good views but pretty cold in June. Beware of fog in the morning if you are going to 5fingers view point. Also, you can only get to the lodge with cable car!

Our stay was so magical that I am struggling to find superlatives to describe it. The views were spectacular, hosts friendly, food great and our room was clean and spacious. We enjoyed walking around the property after the chairlifts stopped (so peaceful) and loved that fact that we could be first going down the mountain in the morning. Thanks guys for this unforgettable experience.

Incredible place, insanely beautiful terrace. We went there before and after hiking for food and drinks. Friendly staff, tasty food and a view melted my heart.

Wow. Just a big wow. Stayed at the panorama suite and the view was mindblowing with breathtaking views. Just can't explain the feeling in words. One has to experience it for themselves. The staff has been very friendly and the food was amazing. For me any trip no matter what the cost is, if the food is bad it just ruins everything but the food here was awesome. All in all a 10 star rating from me.

5km from hallstatt. Free car park by the Dachstein krippenstein cable car. Definitely worth the trip and highly recommend staying at the lodge even if its just one one night

A great stop after the ice cave and the 5 fingers.
Don't go for the restaurant at the cable stop, at the Lodge you'll have much more food options and they are really fast and delicious.

We only ate here but I will surely come back to stay some other time. We had the speckbrett and really liked it - put a lot! of the meat on the bread, it's very tasty. Can highly recommend coming here also if only for a cup of coffee.

Great place to stay, fully wooden walls, good meals and awesome view to Dachstein amd other mountains. Our family spent a lovely weekend there and we enjoyed a sunrise directly from our room.
