Words can’t describe how excited I am to be in Hallstatt. The village surrounding by mountains and breathtaking views of the lake. The landscape and architecture makes Hallstatt captivating. Feels like living in a fairytale movie. Hallstatt well known as the world oldest pipeline.

The challenges are:
1. Crowds : during holiday or not, Hallstatt popularity means it can still get crowded. Long queues at the restaurant, restrooms or even for taking a picture
2. Languages barrier
3. Expensive 😹😹

Pro tip:
please be arrive early to get a good vantage point especially for the boat procession, arriving early is essential. The village is small, and spot near the lake fill up quickly

Beautiful place—nice, quiet, and peaceful. We stayed for three nights and still felt it wasn't enough. The best time to visit and avoid the crowds and large tour groups is before 10:30 AM. By 6 PM, it is the most peaceful and quiet, as the last boat leaves at that time.

Superb place , fairy tale village cant get enough of it .
For Public transport via Salzburg and take a train to Hallstatt bahn its a 2 hour journey and from station you can take a ferry to the village, the ferry is always in sync with the trains .
You can enjoy at the centre or you can go and chase the waterfall and do a 1.5 hr hike to the top and tour the oldest Salt mine 😄
You have another option for via cable car to go to the top , this is car free village so no cars 🚗

Such a beautiful and magical small town. The houses are so cute stacking up together. So many cute shops to visit. Definitely worth to visit. Although the parking was a huge pain. We almost couldn’t visit because all the parking lots were full. They have a lot of parking spaces, it’s just there’s a lot more tourists too. (Parking €8/2hrs) recommend visit early and not during the weekend.

Better visit in the morning, after that it gets really rush. We went during evening, they have boat service, it takes an hour go and back. Beautiful place, beautiful sceneries, I wish some tourists keep the town clean as it is..
Beautiful lake, amazing place.

Beautiful place. You have to come earlier to avoid most tourists peak. The tourists are a big support to this village but also may cause some problems. Don't be a jerk when you visit there.

A beautiful city to visit. Well worth the drive. The scenery and atmosphere are breath taking. So make it to the top of the mountain. Nice views.

It’s a small beautiful and a picturesque town on the Hallstatt lake in Austria. It has a viewpoint called Skywalk and has an ancient salt mine in mountain both of which can be accessed by a funicular railway. I recommend to pre book your time. Car parking is limited so get there early. Also a UNESCO site.

We set off on a day trip to the lakes district. First stop was Hallstatt, which is said to be the oldest inhabited village in Europe. It sits on the edge of the lake, surrounded by mountains (some snow capped). Very picturesque and amazing scenery / architecture, where the traditional houses sat steeply up the hill side. Plenty of stone steps! Even the small town cemetery was amazing. Flowers blooming everywhere with the lake and mountains as a backdrop.

I passed through today on bicycle hence no wait but saw that all 🅿 was full.

Overrun with tourists (don’t understand why really, there are so many other similar towns in the Salzkammergut…) but it still is a beautiful place.

Very beautiful small town located next to Hallstatt lake designated as a UNESCO Heritage site.
Just standing beside and seeing that lake makes us peaceful and calm so that we could spend an hour just seeing those.
Due to the small size and population o this town, it usually is very calm and placid. This town is really small so that it took an hour from one end to the other.
This area is also famous for the world's first salt mine formed in 2000 BC, which we can have tour after reaching by Funicula they run, where you can also enjoy the beautiful overview of the lake from the skywalk. Even if it is quite pricey, it is a must!

Great place, amazing view and atmosphere. People who arrived by train can take a shuttle boat to the village. There are several restaurants and gift shops for tourists. The best view can be achieved on the top observatory deck and the lake. One possible burden would be the availability of public toilets, as there are only few of them around the village and located a bit distant between each other (and people should paid).

Amazing place. It was a sunny day when we visited the lake, everything was bright, clean and clear. The cable line was closed for maintenance so we couldn’t see the view from above. But no regret, it was breathtakingly beautiful, not only by the lake but the houses of the village along the hill.

Very beautiful and enjoyable place
especially to see the snowy mountains and valley.
The lake in the valley as well as the beautiful
wooden houses around it is a sight to be seen at least once in a lifetime.

Was there several times and I always like to come back. Pity it is always over crowded. But if you want to enjoy in quiet, stay overnight

We went to Halsttatt last summer august 2023 and we stayed 3 days in Pepis appartment, the owner of the place was super nice and cheerful. It is true to say that there were too many people every single day which made our stay a bit overwhelming but overall it’s a magical place to admire the nature and the lake.Im not sure know how the tickets work cause last summer there was no limit in people coming in.

Also to point out that you can do short trekking walks near town that are amazing , and you can take a boat to the town at the other side which has lots of beautiful sites, we took the boat and rented a kayak , it was great.Hope my review is helpful for all of you.
