Hooked On 1770 Offshore Charters

Once Damo figured out it was my first time on a fishing charter he really opened up and gave me an incredible exprience! He was extremely helpful, untangling lines, replacing rods when hooks bent or snapped, etc. He is extremely knowledgable in fishing and has been running for 16+ years. The boat was very clean at the beginning, he gave explicit instructions, and was happy to answer any questions. I can understand why he runs on a "play it by ear" basis with operation. You cannot expect him to take the boat out on a day where there is bad weather; I wouldn't either. I was lucky that my day was crystal clear and we caught a few good fish including some red emperors, hussars, trout, and more. Overall it was a great experience that I will never forget. This was fantastic. Damian was an A1 host taking care of both less experienced and professional anglers. Taking to better spots when it slowed and everyone had a great time, especially the big catchers 😉

I have been out on this Charter 5 times. Damian always works hard to get his customers onto quality fish. Very knowledgeable and goes about the day with minimum of fuss and a smile. Have always landed quality fish when I have been out with Hooked On.

Nice feed Damien was very helpful and also educated a few of us on releasing undersize fish so they swim away healthy boat is comfortable for the trip out and lots of room to be able to fish without being on top of someone i would highly recommend I’ll be back to do a full day chasing some big reds out wider thank you Damien for a good mornings fishing

Overall a great day's fishing with a very relaxed and professional skipper. However if you are not in the know or an obvious regular don't get stuck on the 'wrong side' of the boat. I have been twice now and both times found myself fishing from the side as opposed to the stern meaning that your line either trails at right angles to your rod and depending on the prevailing current, ends up going under the boat. Either reduce your numbers and fish one side or give everyone a go at the stern.

We booked this trip days in advance as we have a relative visiting from overseas who hasn’t seen fish like we get in Australia in his life. We drove up from northern NSW, booked accomodation in Agnes and we were cancelled on short notice due to “bad weather conditions”. I had been forecasting the weather for the days prior to the trip and was only expecting to experience a light wind of 10kn. I woke up on the morning of the cancelled trip and as per the forecast there were 5-10kn winds as far as lady musgrave island and absolutely no wind in Agnes Waters. Is there a rule/law that you cannot go out fishing if winds are above 10kn? Or do the fish not bite if it’s a bit windy? Very disappointed 1770!

Not sure what all the good reviews are about, must be his mates. Damien is very hard to deal with. He has no care for his clients and is extremely unprofessional. He cancels a trip not even 12 hours out with no reason other than bad weather when the weather is perfect. All other boats are heading out and have no availability unfortunately for us but a good indicator of the conditions. Save your money and don't deal bad business.
