Oh my god. The highlight of my Australian trip. Make sure you spend 3 nights at least, and dont rush. This is a place for guests who like to share a bit of their time and personality along a community table. What a view. What a generous space and harmony between nature and humankind. Matt did an excellent job building this house and he is a great host that will make your stay memorable. Why would you go elsewhere - its even inexpensive and you can get cassowaries walking your own garden!!! You can even sleep outside on the terrace if you like to. Very few mosquitoes in October 2023.

What a fantastic place to stay!
We have spent 2 wonderful nights at Epiphyte B and B. It was the place we appreciated the most during our long stay in Australia.
The property is quiet, very well maintained with a lovely view.
Matt is very welcoming, gives plenty of advices and we had very interesting discussions with him. He does everything to make you feel at home.
The breakfast is delicious with a gorgeous plate of exotic fruits and nice home made marmelades.
We would have loved to stay longer.

Enjoyed our stay at Epiphyte. Matt was a great host.......very friendly and helpful. The room and common areas were clean and very functional. The property offered a little creek and orchard which were nice for short walks and exploring. The location offered easy access to many Cape Tribulation attractions. The fruit and cereal breakfasts were delicious. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay and would highly recommend it to others.

Incredible stay in one of the most beautiful settings I've stayed in. If you're into wildlife/environment this is definitely the place for you! Matt is an incredible host with a huge amount of knowledge on the local area/ecology and provides great advice on how to make the most of your time in the region. We got some great wildlife sightings following his guidance. On top of this, the accommodation is a very welcoming and friendly environment. Honestly can't recommend it enough!

An amazing place in the heart of the Daintree rainforest!
We had a fabulous stay at the Epiphyte B&B for 2 nights, if only we could have stayed for longer! Matt is friendly, helpful and honest, giving advice on suggested itineraries to suit your interests. Also had a community feel with the other guests and evenings were spent chatting round the table. All in all an amazing place to stay, if you are looking for an eco-conscious, sociable and relaxing retreat, you won’t regret booking here! Thanks again Matt and all the best, Rosie & Lyle

We stayed in the Hibiscus Cottage, a very comfortable cottage on it’s own 4 acres. The serenity!!
Breakfast at the main Epiphyte building 1 block further up the road.
Matt was a great host, plenty of information on the best places to visit in the area, and breakfast with the exotic fruit platter not to be missed.
You couldn’t find a better place to stay in this beautiful area.

It was lovely.
The location is great, and we knew from the first moment that we stay longer than expected. Our room was huge, with a huge veranda and a nice view to the mountain. Matt is very lovly, and we had lots of fun playing games with him and he will help you, no matter what you need + he will give you many advices. Additional it's a good place to meet some knew people. We met some really lovely people from north Australia and Germany. It was a really great atmosphere and we just sat outside, talking to the other guests and Matt.
He also know how to life with the nature. The tap water, is rain water, most of electrical is from the sun and he try to recycle a lot. Just great.
Its definitely worth a visit!

Loved our stay here! We booked one of the private cottages with its own kitchen which was very convenient and had everything we needed. Location is great and we loved that the host had lots of recommendations for our stay. This was my first time in B&B style accom and I really enjoyed chatting with the other guests over breakfast and swapping stories.

A wonderful stay in an incredible environment that was nothing like we’d ever experienced before. This stay seamlessly merged a unique balance between modern comfort and connection to nature with sustainable hospitality. Such an immersive experience. The heart of the lodging was a huge open-air communal space for dining, lounging, cooking and relaxing that invited the elements in, sharing this space with other guests. With nooks and spaces that were both well designed and cozy, looking onto the view of mountains and rainforest, this was such an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the sights, sounds and sensations of the tropical wilderness whilst giving a base to explore the Daintree and Cape Tribulation. The host Matt has hosting down to perfection creating a vibe where visitors can socialize or be private. We had a sensational 5 days there and met people from Germany and America, swapped stories and loved the immersion in nature. Matt also had a compendium of the area for guests with suggested itineraries which we were so grateful to review. Matt was a perfect host, never in our face but so accessible to sort any issue. The only issue was a couple of rude and biased guests who lacked manners, respect and self-awareness. I was saddened to see they wrote an awful and undeserving review of such a fantastic experience, simply because they disregarded other's contribution to a conversation. It was unwarranted, not true and mean spirited. There was a houseful of very happy guests of all ages over the time we were here. Perfect place for all ages who have a genuine love for nature and who enjoy their fellow man/woman. If we visit the Daintree again, we will certainly stay here.

We had a great time during our stay at the Epiphyte. Matt was not only an incredibly friendly host, but also very knowledgeable about the area and provided some great suggestions for places to explore, including some 'secret' spots! The room was clean, modern and comfortable. The extensive breakfast fruit platter is definitely something we'll remember! I'd recommend staying at least three nights given the many things to explore in the area.

Amazing place and amazing host. Mat is a very kind person and provided us very tasty breakfast and all kind of recommendations to enjoy the Daintree Forest. His place is in the middle of the forest, it is beautiful, tidy and worth to stay as much as you can.

Small and cosy, well put together, friendly and communal. It is off-grid and delicate, so there are a couple of rules you can pay respect via. This is one man's vision, fully custom built and unique. A good hub while exploring the surrounds.

Great cosy hidden away bed and breakfast, surrounding by the Daintree, with a friendly knowlegable host. Lovely place to just disconnect.

We stayed in the Golden Orchid Cottage, perfect for a couple and slightly detached from the remainder of the B&B. The communal space was a good place to unwind and chat with other guests and share stories of our adventures.

Matt, the host, was on point with all the recommendations, including where to go but importantly when to go in order to avoid the tourist rush. Managed to check out far more of the Daintrees because of his know how, and a few places we initially would have skipped.

Explore the grounds, from the creek up to the gazebo and simply take it all in.

We stayed at the Epiphyte in late April, in the beautiful Hibiscus Cottage. Matt was an amazing host, whose incredible knowledge of the area and suggestions made sure we made the most of our short time in the Daintree. Yes, the fruit selection at breakfast is as good as others have suggested here, and it’s amazing to see where some of it is grown in the surrounding grounds. Our two young daughters loved it here as much as us. We were already planning our next visit before we left. Thanks, Matt!

This was our favourite place to stay in North Queensland. A peaceful rainforest retreat. Matt is a friendly and very helpful host, with lots of great tips of things to see and do. Breakfast includes tropical fruits, toast, cereal and delicious coffee and local teas. The room was very comfortable and clean. The large open balcony overlooking the garden makes you never want to leave the house, but you need to because there's so much to see nearby. Countless beaches, beautiful hikes through rainforest or mangroves, swimming in crystal clear rivers. We crossed paths with a cassowary on the Jindabla walk which is very close to the house. We will absolutely come back because we only spent 2 nights which is not long enough.

Can’t rate the property, but the owner Mat was super helpful when we had to cancel due to ferry closure. He called me proactively and gave a full refund. Great communication and service. This will be the first place we stay next time we’re heading to Daintree.

I have honestly never been to a more hospitable B&B in Australia! Matt, the host is such an incredible human with unbelievable patience and a genuine nature lover who could enrich you with his unfathomable knowledge on flora and fauna. His property is nothing short of amazing with exotic plants and scenery that is a great treat and blessing to wake up to.

The highlight of our stay had to be the amazing and scrumptious tropical fruit platter along with toast and homemade jams. We got to have this with Matt and the other guests at the time. It was an experience of a kind to sleep off listening to rain, frogs and crickets and wake up to birds chirping and nature at its best.

I highly recommend the Epiphyte to anyone who would love to spend time in the wilderness in the most natural way possible. We absolutely admire Matt's simplicity and discipline when it comes to conserving electricity and water.
