As wide and contemporary collection as you would find in any bookstore from a larger city. Staff member was friendly and engaging, book purchase came with a bookmark. Books have handwritten price stickers, and a sticker bearing the name and logo of the book store. The bookmark and stickers are very nice touches that you don't find in many places anymore. If you're in Alice Springs, have a look inside here.

Really lovely book store. Worth a visit when you're in the Alice. Extensive range of relevant books to the area, as well as Australian authors. Great selection of children's books too.

Absolutely love visiting Red Kangaroo Books! It's not just a bookshop it's an experience! Walking inside, the layout unfolds itself to you slowly rather than just an overwhelming view straight away. It encourages you to walk around the whole shop which is a delight; the featured displays are thoughtful and relevant, there are titles here that are hard to find and unique from what you'd expect in a usual bookshop, a focus on Australian books. We purchased a field guide for birds and it's perfect, has helped us identify many local winged creatures! Red Kangaroo Books is well worth a visit!

This is the best bookstore I have been to. They are professional and polite. They have a good generic range considering their small size while also specialising in Australian books. If there are are any books you want, they will get it in for you and contact you when it arrives.

I can't thank Bronwyn at Red Kangaroo enough! I recently ordered some books online from their wonderful range for my niece's first birthday. We are based in London and so have not seen family for more than two years so I was moved beyond words when Bronwyn offered to gift wrap and personally deliver the books in time for the birthday FaceTime celebrations. Thank you Red Kangaroo - we can't wait for an in person visit! Fingers crossed for 2022.

I love this bookshop - it is a highlight of every visit to Alice Springs. Always take Bronwyn's advice on a book - she has guided me to fantastic Australian imaginative and literary spaces I would have never found without her.

Hey! What does it take to have a thriving, real book shop these days, in a small town when bookshops are becoming scarce even in cities?

How about their carefully-curated stock of fine, local reading matter, for a start? A fair number of visitors to The Alice do get the distinct impression that they'd better start reading what the locals have written (yes, Alice has the highest number of educated cognoscenti per head outside of Canberra!)

From historical to the outrageous. poetry to pictorial to Pitjantjara, browsing this jewel amongst bookshops will be frustratingly cut short by your impending flight departure. My advice is grab just two books and slip in one of Red Kangaroo's bookmarks so you can order more from home.

I love Kangaroo books. It might be small and cozy but allot of thought has clearly gone into each book that has been chosen to go on the shelves. The books for sale are not just your mainstream but a quaility selection of really interesting books. The staff seem to have a very good knowledge of each book which is very helpful. We are lucky to still have a bricks and mortor book shop in our little town, Highly reccommended

What a truly iconic bookstore. Love the frontage. Definitely worth a browse of the wide range of colourful and varied books available. I hope this rare independent gem survives the slow gentrification of the town. Lovely staff

A great selection of books, with a huge number of books about Central Australia and Aboriginal culture. As a tour guide, this is where I get my books to learn about the region.

I spend a long time in this shop. They specialise in Australian books which seem to cover all subjects. The older gentleman is very knowledgeable but is only there on the weekends. Happy to recommend.

Brilliant little bookshop filled with books you wouldn't typically fine elsewhere. Perfect for a souvenir or a trip down Australia's oft forgotten memory lane.

Besides a fine selection from further afield, there are many enticing local titles for the curious visitor like myself; I wish I had a local bookshop like this at home.
