This place is best visited with a tour as the most interesting thing about it is history and understanding the set up and purpose of the dog line. I love history so I found it fascinating and impressive, however the actual artifacts are somewhat limited for those who want to see heaps. There is a guards house and some sheds and a sculpture of the dog.
For everyone interested in history - I recommend a tour!

First time we drove past this great part of history but after a visit in Port Arthur we came back. It's a small car park but the little museum is full of history and it's only a 5min walk to the statue of the dog line. It's all free and a great addition to the convict history at Port Arthur.

As a lover of mastiffs I had to find this sculpture to remember the history of the place. A short walk to get to the sculpture, just off the main road. No parking directly next to it, just so you know.

Eaglehawk Neck is a picturesque spot in its own right as well as an important element in understanding the location and role of Port Arthur nearby. There is a good historical display in the original officers quarters next to the carpark from where you can walk down to the statue (which is scary enough, God knows what the real things were like) and then continue off to the beach on the left. A convenient and scenic place to stop for 15-30mins break to/from Port Arthur itself.

Ok so the walking track along the beach isn't finished yet but it will be....😁 and when it is, this is about the most magnificent "neck" of the woods in the world. Nowhere for eats here so pack a lovely picnic.

Feel sorry for the poor dogs being treated so they were aggressive. Well set up display.
