5 stars because of the remote place it is situated and it is so difficult to bring things and food there.
Tayka is situated at around 4.400 meters in the Siloli desert. The scenery there is amazing, unique, magnificent- from another planet. The closest thing to planet mars with the reddish colors.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast beyond expectations always taking in consideration where the hotel is situated. You can even order your omelette or fried eggs. The dinner is set usually with a starter (probably soup), a main course and for desert fruits. All were very tasty. The view from the dining area simply amazing .
From the rooms don’t expect much. Just the basics. To the positive side, they are warm ( the temperatures at night can get far below Zero), they have hot water.
Because the electricity is produced solely by solar power and generators after 10:30pm there are no electricity and lights.
There is WiFi available with proper speed but only accessible in the reception area and the sitting area just before the dinning area.
Don’t forget that the place is in the middle of nowhere

While many may not consider the hotel worthy, let us tell you we disagree.
Consider this: 4500m+ elevation up in the mountains,
Nothing in sight for miles and miles of sand and rock except some Vicunas...
Imagine running an inn up here that can provide decent breakfast and buffet dinner everyday... can't top that.
The rooms appear to be constructed from rock (or salt blocks) and it will be chilly.
At night even at the height of summer it gets -3°C at night or early morning outside.
So, ask for hot water bottles from reception to place on your bed and pre-warm it.
They do tell you that hot water for bathing and electricity stops from 10pm.
Fortunately for us it appeared to be available all night. Was it due to New Year' eve we are not sure. We brought our own LED lights but did not get to use them.

This place is pretty close to the back of beyond and if it looks like a base on Mars, well, this is a pretty exotic corner of SW Bolivia. My 5 stars is partially a reflection of how remote this place is. Rugged setting; rugged hotel. Food for both dinner and breakfast was very good. A simply amazing setting on this planet.

This is a very isolated and remote hotel that manages to be everything you could need. Beware it is located above 15,000 feet which can make sleeping challenging. The staff was very helpful explaining the hours that the generator would run. The food was surprisingly good and plentiful, they even had wine!. The stars were magnificent. They only place to stay in this wild and beautiful desert.

it was great!!! i was there recently (in january 2023) and what stands out is the staff: everybody is extremely helpful and lovely! the room was warm enough to have a good night sleep (keep in kind that heaters and electricity are switched off at 10pm). i had dinner and breakfast as well and the chef should receive a michelin star for taste and presentation, but especially for how hard it is to deliver a great set of meals at almost 5.000 meter above sea level. bread is homemade!!! don’t miss it, it is an experience all in all - sunrise is great, if you can wake up around 6am!

Very remote hotel. Can't expect luxury, I was very comfortable and had great food. Also, wifi which was surprising. I would suggest you take altitude meds 24 hours prior to going here. Your stay will be much more comfortable.

Unique place. Comfortable, warm, good food and hospitable. And no, of course it's not as comfortable as a 5-star hotel in a major city, and yes, it's very expensive by Bolivian standards. But remember this is a very remote location in an extreme 4000m altitude desert climate, so it's pretty amazing what they've managed to create here! If you want to experience the Sud-Lipez moon landscapes in relative comfort and are willing to pay a premium, this is the place to be. If you're in for a rougher (and yes, arguably more 'genuine') experience there are cheaper lodges around here (or go by bicycle and bring your tent).

I stayed in the hotel in July 2017. Even though it is expensive compared to the other hotels in this area it is really worth it. The food and the equipment is excellent. Since it's isolated and has to produce its own power, you can only use wifi and sockets till 22 pm. The beds and shower water is warm.

Incredibly hard to get to, incredible views and sense of isolation. This is a very special place.
Good meal, good staff, comfortable bed. Room was cold (only natural heating available) but the bed made up for it. My main discomfort was trouble breathing when trying to sleep - I was ok when up and about.
Access from the north: very rough but amazing (don't miss the viscachas in the Inca Canyon). Access from the south - easier, still quite amazing.

It was fun! In the middle of nowhere, 5 thousands metres high. Lovely staff, dinner well prepared and served. Fantastic location. Run to arrive before 6pm for hot water, power off by 10pm. Don't expect good internet connection, come on!

Amazing freezing view sunset of the Andes mountains with the first unexpected snow of December with my family and baby cousin Gui of just one year and 4 months old of age. Seriously I've got so hypnotized there that almost suffered hypothermia

Nice tayka hotel in the middle of the desert.
The vegetarian food on request was amazing, possibly the best we have tasted in Bolivia.
