Kells Academy

I sent my 2 children at Kells Elementary for four (4) years. I wish they had started their elementary schooling at that school. The small class sizes and tailored learning approach really made a difference to my children. Kells provides each student with his/her own learning experience and the child is able to learn as quickly or as slowly as is best for that child. The teachers and the Principal were always available and happy to discuss my children’s progress any time I felt the need. Both my kids loved Kells and were sad on the week-end and over the Summer because they could not go to school. Kells has not only taught them academic subjects but also life lessons and how to become good citizens of the world. Their Spring Concert is not to be missed and is such a positive experience for the students.

I cannot recommend this school enough.

Kells Elementary was a great confidence boost for both my children. The teachers are not only involved in academic learning but help with social situations as well. The school and staff were always very supportive and encouraging. It was a great experience!

Our son Nico went to Kells Academy for 7 years. It was the best choice ever for our son’s education. Smaller classes and the multi cultural environment made him feel very welcome; the tailored, individual support made him thrive . Despite not speaking English when our family arrived in Montreal from Europe, the patient teachers and staff helped him to get up to speed and within months English became his first language. His love for language, writing short stories and acting persists until today and that is thanks to the excellent education from Kells Academy.

When the time came to choose the right school for our kids, we agonized over the various options. We could not be more happy with our choice of Kells Elementary School.
Through the small classes, warm and attentive teachers, novel learning strategies and most of all patience. Kells built a solid foundation that allowed our children to succeed and thrive in high school. The academic success that they have today is a direct result of their time at Kells Elementary School.

As a parent of a 9 years old boy, I am so happy for my son at Kells Academy. Not only is everyone (students, teachers, staff! and admisitration) there extremely supportive, they're inclusive and make sure you're okay and not struggling with anything. Incredible academic curriculum, differential and tailored programs to meet every student’s needs and challenges with highly educated and dedicated teachers. Great location and great college acceptance rates. Reputation is well known amongst parents and alumni. If you're considering this school definitely go for it! You won't regret it! We love Kells Family!!

It's our third year at Kells and we are happy to have discovered this hidden gem among many private schools in Montreal. This is a relatively small school that differentiates itself with small class sizes, individualized approach to meet student needs and the community feeling that the parents and the kids experience. What I most appreciate about Kells is the fact that, beyond the academics, concepts such as social interactions, manners, empathy for others, kindness, etc. finds its way through their class discussions. Children get to experience and learn to respect others, appreciate differences, diversity, challenges other students may be going through such as adjusting to a new culture / language coming from abroad.

Our both sons have learned at Kells Elementary for 3/4 years and we're so grateful for that. We found at Kells great support by amazing Mrs. Perlman the school's principal and by the teachers and the administrative staff. Kells is a small school so every student gets full and great attention academically (if needed, also a tailored education plan) and socially. As parents, we had an amazing peace of mind knowing our kids are learning at Kells. The atmosphere and attitude are great. The students get to know and respect the diversity of the community. They learn that everyone has his own needs and everyone is OK!! sometimes progress is celebrated by the teachers and the principal. Our sons arrived in Kells with zero English knowledge. Also thanks to amazing Mrs. Farid, the resource teacher, they became native speakers in just a few months. In our opinion, the schedule is very reasonable with a good amount of recesses during the day in a good-sized open yard all over the year. Very reasonable homework amounts that again could be adapted to every student's needs. Mrs. Perlman and the staff is always there for you (even after you leave the country :)) A great family that always does its best to make it even better. The boys had a very good time at school. We sent our son to Kells Elementary School from Kindergarten through Grade 6. He loved going to school and thrived in the nurturing environment where his strengths were celebrated and his challenges supported. The staff was dedicated and worked collaboratively with us to ensure his social and academic success. Our son is now a well rounded, confident young man, in part, thanks to the wonderful start he got at this school!

My two boys attended Kells Elementary from grade one to grade 5 and we left the school when we moved to another province. Kells preaches about personalized education and in my experience the school delivered exactly that. Ms.Perlman the principal has always been very informed of the latest research findings in education and I appreciated the many initiatives that school has undertaken such as Healthy Mind Healthy School. I wish the school all the best and continues to teach children based on individual learning.

This year (2019-2020), we mark & celebrate our son’s 5th year at Montreal’s finest elementary school - Kells Elementary. Tucked-away in the NDG community of Montreal, Kells is simply put, an outstanding, First-Class institution for learning.

Our experience at Kells started at the Kindergarten level, and every year since, our child continues to build his education-foundation, brick-by-brick, one solid year after another, in academics, socially, and physical education.

Kells offers an Individualized Education Program which has been the key to our child’s successes over the years, coupled with the extraordinary educators and staff, helmed by a remarkable & hands-on Principal, with a small number of students in the class, rich in diversity from all corners of the globe, thus affording our child the best possible environment to learn and grow.

I can only say good words about Kells and the staff from the secretary, teachers to the director. This school was a confidence booster for our daughter. Where rejection and problems were always an issue with the other school at Kells they were always finding ways and strategies to make the life easier for our daughter. Even now after all these years our daughter at Concordia University still visit Kells to say hi and for a chat with Mrs Perlman.

My 3 children were students at Kells elementary.
I initially transferred my son at Kells in Grade 4 because he was bullied at a previous school. My son's self esteem was so depleted, he lost all interest in school. As a parent, I was distraught to see a happy go child afflicted with anxiety at such a young age. Needless to say Mrs. Perlman calmed my fears (she was a pillar of strength) for me, and worked on my son to the point where that initial fear was replaced with confidence in himself and a joy in attending school once again. When my son graduated Kells elementary, he no longer was the hurt and scared child. Today he is (overly) confident, has empathy for others, and is overall a blessing. Marla Perlman and the teachers genuinely care for their students.

In our home, we have used Mrs Perlman's motto: "Choose your attitude" many times. Our kids have fond memories and enjoyed going to school at Kells.

Excellent Elementary School my son liked it and so did we the parents!!. The teachers and staff are very good, dedicated, experienced and take genuine efforts to see that the child gives its best and delivers the maximum potential inherent in them. By putting the Child at ease, by evoking their curiosity , by using good smart teaching and communication skills, the School gets the best out of the kids . Highly Recommended!!

This School is amazing, best kept secret in Montreal, for academics they do everything that other schools do, without the painful homework, children have time to do other activities after school because they do the learning at school, not at home after hours or weekends. Each child is taught at their own pace. The children are so happy, they have no stress at all, they are nice to one another, it's easy for them to make friends, the teachers are extraordinary and so devoted, the principal is totally out of this world, fully dedicated to the children, to the families, to the well being of everybody, she is on top of things yet always calm and available. The learning specialists are so amazing, they are fully available to the children and provide them with all the help each may need, no matter how long it takes, they are super patient, always positive and caring. This is a stress free school, as a parent, I am more than totally satisfied. Both my children run in the morning to go to school and are extremely happy to return at the end of each summer, that says it all.

What started off as a last minute resort turned out to be the best decision made!
To give some context, I had signed up my son to an all French private school for his kindergarten year. Two months down the line, his teacher indicated that he might be suffering some worrying learning challenges! Knowing how bright this kid is I went to seek a specialist’s opinion, who in turn assured us that these difficulties are merely a result of facing a new language that he’d never used at home, and probably a lack of experience on the side of the teacher. I decided to move him out abruptly, and the only placement I found considering the time was at Kells. Within 3 months of joining kells he‘d learnt all the alphabet and begun reading. In one year he’s turned a bookworm and an a achieving kid who takes a great interest in learning. The small number of kids in classes and the focused and personalized approach to each kid’s learning needs is a big plus at Kells. I would like to thank Ms. Brady, a dedicated teacher who doesn’t view teaching as a job but rather a life quest. The principal, Ms. Perlman, with her hands on and detail-oriented approach. Ms. Miceli who’s a delight to watch around kids and Elizabeth in admin who goes out of her way in looking after the kids. Thank you all for doing such a remarkable job!

I went here from grade 2 to grade 6. It is a wonderful school. When I first went there I could barely speak English but in a couple years I could speak English fluently largely due to the wonderful teachers and small classes that allow every student to get the help they need. I would recommend.

I especially loved the small classes and nice teachers while I was a Kells student. Plus, the staff was always there when you needed them. I would definitely travel back in time to relive those days as a kid.

My daughter started at this school in grade 3. It has been a wonderful experience for her. The resources offered innovative. The principal really cares about her students.

Yesterday is the international day Of kells elementary.I never know there is so many countries in one school. Every one have a blast .we learned a lot of other country’s culture,also we enjoyed the food.

Kells Elementary is a warm, nurturing and supportive school with a wonderful principal.
