Dr. Jigna Purohit

Dr Purohit and Fatima are the absolute best. Dr Purohit is kind, caring and truly helpful. I feel so lucky to have her for our family Doctor. Fatima is amazing. She is empathetic, efficient and a wonderful person.

Dr.Purohit is a very caring physician. Her bedside manner is incredible and she will go out of her way to help her patients. She is accommodating and quick to schedule you. Her secretary Fatima is very sweet and helpful! Dr.Purhoit's office and staff are exceptional!

Dr Purohit is a knowledgeable and friendly doctor. Her office was very accommodating with scheduling and I had no issues with any of my visits. I'm happy to have a doctor like Dr Purohit.

Concerns: Dr. Jigna Purohit's Dismissive and Unprofessional Patient Conduct in Office.

While in Dr. Jigna Purohit's office, I encountered a concerning level of dismissiveness and unprofessionalism.

Dr. Purohit made an unconventional suggestion "Bet you weren't expecting that recommendation," she said while pointing to Google search results. I chuckled, thinking she was being lighthearted, and proceeded to share other home remedies that had been tried. I then asked about the referral process to an ophthalmologist, noting to myself the appointment had begun 30 minutes late and knowing that the referral process could be lengthy in Ontario.

Her response to my inquiry shocked me. Dr. Purohit responded and I quote, "You are getting on my nerves, are you the doctor, or am I?"

I immediately apologized, acknowledging her position, and did not engage further during the appointment. Her harsh reaction made me wonder what I had done in our brief moments together to “get on her nerves”.

I believe there are more appropriate ways to communicate expertise and address patient questions.

As a professional myself, an educator, a KW community member, and a local volunteer, I believe in creating a collaborative and respectful encounter for all. It is unfortunate to see that she does not.

I hope that those under Dr. Purohit's care, especially marginalized individuals who rely on primary care physicians for guidance and support, are treated with the professionalism and quality care outlined in Ontario's code of conduct for healthcare practitioners. I will see to it that my loved ones and I seek care elsewhere, but my concern remains for those who may not have the same options.

I urge the practice to consider the feedback being shared (there is a theme) and ensure a more respectful approach to patient care in the future.
