Ethel's Lounge

It had been a while since my husband and I had been to Ethel’s - 2 years actually. It kind of fell off our radar so tonight we went for a last minute supper at Ethel’s and sat on the sunny covered patio. It was hot out but thankfully they have extra umbrellas we could tilt to ward off the late afternoon sun.

We enjoyed some beer and shared their double helping of pulled pork nachos which came in a extra large pizza pan with a few layers, tonnes of cheese, chips, pulled pork and some green onions (it could have used some more onion). And large bowls (not teeny ramekins) of sour cream and chunky salsa. It could easily feed 3 people. Stretchy pants recommended. 😉

It was a fantastic and oh-so-filling meal with fast and friendly service. We highly recommend the nachos and plan to come back for several other items on their menu.

Stayed for 10 days arround Waterloo and went 4 times to this place. To be honest I couldn't find any other place in the zone that could compete with Ethel's Lounge regarding the Quality/Price balance.

Almost all the times that we were here we ordered their Wings, which are a thousand times better than anywhere around because they do not fry them, as the others do.

Also the Ribs on Saturday are a must for 25$.

The quantity of the food is amazing . Pulled pork nacho is really good. Unfortunately, my stomach is too small. Otherwise, I will try some other dishes.

Came for a late night snack and drinks, pulled pork nachos were crazy delicious, for the price and the size, 100% worth it! Customer service was awesome and they had a bunch of drink specials. Would very much recommend coming back for the food and the drinks!

I honestly can’t complain. I didn’t expect much, I thought this was gonna just be some random food and it turned out to be so much better than I imagined!

I tried the brisket sandwich and it was very tender, I would definitely eat this again. It was kind of cool getting chips instead of fries, it’s unique.

I’ll be back to try more of this menu soon!

Ethyl’s is a great local restaurant in Waterloo. The food is amazing, but don’t expect to get fries, they don’t serve them. The wait staff is always very friendly, and it has one of the best patios in the city.

The specials and feature nights are always worth to check out, but the location flourishes during the summer with their patio area. The staff are pleasant, the location has extremely neat character, and it is always an awesome experience being here.

I have been going to Ethel's for years. The staff is always welcoming and capable. The food is somewhat an unexpected awesome. Ethel's also is the owner of the "The Best Patio" in Uptown. Highly recommend!

Food tasted great, service was without complaint and the bartender was fantastic. Despite how busy of a night it was, he made sure to keep up with orders and refills… For a first visit, I will def be back 💯

Amazing Food! Had the Rajah work smoked mushrooms... So good! Smoked Portobello mushroom stuffed in a singed red pepper served with rice and refried beans. We shared a plate and it was perfect size. We left satisfied and not too full.

Can't wait to be back. They have enchiladas, Mexican bowls and quesadillas with the option of the smoked Portobello mushroom in each point. Great option for vegetarians.

Had the Smoked Portabello Mushroom Enchiladas and they were so tasty. Good portion size. Would be great if they were able to offer Violife vegan cheese but was great none the less. The mushrooms had a smokey flavor... Need that recipe! 🙂 Will be back for sure.

Happy to have been frequenting this place more often! The food is great. A bit of a different offering because they don't have a deep fryer. Everything is very fresh! It's a great place to catch the game. The atmosphere is great and the staff have been nothing short of awesome!

Staple of Uptown Waterloo. Came with friends, sitting outside with a really nice patio setup. Servers are always friendly, prices are reasonable and food is pretty good and consistent. Tap to pay available, even has breakfast options and good drink selection. Will be back again

Absolutely always love Ethels. The beer selection is fantastic, the patio an absolute vibe, and $3.00 taco Tuesday a must! I have frequented here so many times and have always had a good time.

(Just note this establishment is not very accessible if you use mobility aids and the restrooms are quite small- likely would also not be able to accommodate a mobility aid. )

We are regular visitors here, this is by far our favorite place to eat in KW. Everything on the menu is great!

Antijitos are the best I've ever had. One of the best burgers in town. Meatloaf is also a favorite. Love Cinco de Mayo, chimichangas special is to die for. Breakfast with a caesar is awesome on a late Sunday morning. The anniversary lobster dinner is something we try to get to every year now.

No deep fryer so things are pan fried, way less grease. Potato crisps with your burger, nice change from French fries. Great selection of beers too.

I've noticed people complaining about the service in reviews. I'm confused, the servers are great here. Small kitchen and depending on how busy it is you might have a little wait. It's so worth it. We've been going for over 10 years and haven't had a bad experience.

Great local place with a cool, unique menu. Patio is fun but check ahead for when it’s likely busiest!

5/5 after all these years. Great to see this place adapting and thriving even during these tough times. Great scene, consistently good food, and some of the best servers uptown 🥰

Stopped in after an appointment ordered the nachos & jr Ethel burger. Best nachos I’ve had anywhere, they don’t skimp on the toppings which is nice! The burger was amazing not too dry. The burger alone was filling even though it came with sides - can’t wait to come back!

Great food, friendly staff and amazing patio seating for the summer. Highly recommend the antijitos
