Wow, Rodney did an amazing job sanding and refinishing our floors, and also refinished the treads on our stairs, he even cleaned up our hand rails which we never even thought of and they turned out great as well. Price was reasonable, he kept us up to date on progress, showed up on the days he committed to. Dust was very minimal, and all the dust collected was put in double bagged garbage bags and put out front of our house for us to dispose, he did tell us at the beginning disposal is our responsibility, understandable as its considered construction debris and there is costs and time needed to dispose of it. We are very happy with the outcome and our house made it on the Market in time to sell. There was 400sqft of floor redone and 12 treads, took him about 4 days to complete, lots of humidity from all the rain so took a little longer to dry, smell was gone in less than a day after final finish coat. What made us go with Rodney was his experience and knowledge of flooring, seems to have a passion for it and knows the history of flooring which is a bonus, his understanding of flooring made us comfortable with accepting his quote. Hope this helps others who are considering refinishing their floors. Thanks again Rodney.

Rodney did an incredible job on our floors. We just moved into a 100 year old house, which happened to be our first ever home as well.

We had really wanted to keep the original flooring in our house but we weren't sure if they would be salvageable, as there were layers of carpet, and extremely glued down linoleum on top of the hardwood.

After we ripped up all the carpet and linoleum and scraped off much of the glue as possible, there were some huge gouges in the floor from our scrapping and from ripping up the linoleum in some spots.

Rodney did an excellent job sanding the floors nicely, getting rid of any paper and glue that was left from the linoleum, and sealed the floors nicely. You'd never be able to tell that there were so many gouges and splinters. The floors look just as though the original flooring had been kept in mint condition all of these years!

Check out our before and after pictures as well!

Rodney did an excellent job sanding my (douglas fir) floors and stairs recently. They look beautiful and I'm thrilled. He is a pro, who knows A LOT about different woods and finishes and possible solutions to those little quirks that all houses have. You can talk through your ideas with him, which I did and he was very patient with me :) I also liked having Rodney around, and appreciated how thoughtful he was about my kids, who were coming and going. His prices are also extremely reasonable! So a big thumbs-up from me. Thank you, Rodney!

I contacted Rod for the home I’m preparing for sale in June mid April. He stated he could do my floors right away. It was to take one week which was perfect as I had other contractors to paint, do trim etc. He was to come out and see the job for a proper quote on more than one occasion. He cancelled every time and had me give him the square footage for the quote-sight unseen.

Rod initially told me he only needed a $500 deposit but the day I sent it he said $1035. Rod knew I was away almost all of May but that the contractors were dependent on him finishing. We added the stairs which were only supposed to take a couple of extra days. When I was away he told me on a couple of occasions he couldn’t go as he was unwell and did other jobs.

He told me he was finally done on Fri May 24th so I paid him in full. I received a call from one of the people waiting for him to complete the work to get in to start telling me he told them he would be finished Wed May 29th. I showed up on the Sun May 26th the house had an intensely strong odour of stain due to the containers being left open, the floors weren’t complete, 6 bags of dust left behind, his big dirty sanding machine in the hall and what looks like chatter marks throughout the living room. The trim is a terrible mess as are the stairs where he didn’t do them and now require repainting. The stairs also looked good in the pic he sent except the nail holes and knot holes with paint in them. When I questioned him about this he said I should have zoomed in on them if I wanted to see that. The worst part was he was not yet finished the job.

SUMMARY

When I talked to him about all the issues especially the facts he told me he was done when he wasn’t and had me pay in full, no invoice until I had to request later twice, only after he was done, putting the jobs back by weeks thereby affecting my ability to put my house on the market, leaving me bags of garbage, dust and open stain that still reek he became argumentative. I requested some money back as it was $6025 for 1171 square feet with 14 stairs and I am expected to remove his garbage (the dust bags are not fully closed and I got dust all in my vehicle with it spilling everywhere.) He knew I am a stage 4 lung cancer survivor so not ok to breathe this in. He refused to make any concessions stating if I wanted to give him more money he would remove the garbage.

I would not recommend this company or Rod if you want to refinish your floors. I believe he totally took advantage of the situation. Not only this they look nothing like they did before. They were gorgeous, light and had a high shine. They are dark and not even close to that high shine.
