Restaurante Nene's

Nice place, good food, good drinks. We all got the skirt steak and it came out on fuego, literally. Really enjoyed and would recommend if you're looking for the best steak in la fortuna. We also got the tres leches cake for dessert, it did not disappoint.

Today is 2nd time in a week. Amazing service, delicious food. Andres the waiter sing my son Happy Birthday! In Spanish. We went different places for dinner this past week, we ended up here again today. No comparison with other restaurants around. Must try it won’t be disappoint it.

This place was amazing !!! The first night me and my wife got to Costa Rica we ate here… The service was amazing and the waiter remembered our names when I did an to go order of the Arroz con Pollo !! 10/10 would recommend!!!

The cerviche was amazing!! The rib-eye melted in your mouth. It had a bit of grizzle, but not that bad. The burger was decent. Wait-staff was great!

Great quality food, lovely decor, and servers provided stellar service. Got the seafood soup. Great drinks, friend got the caipirina, was super delicious. Hot sauce is in-house made. Definitely get the tres leche cake if you have room.

Off the beaten path but simply amazing food. We had ceviche for an appetizer which was awesome. Surf and turf and steamed tilapia were the entrees and they were simply perfect. Steamed tilapia came with vegetables and shrimp. Too much food for one person to eat - I would share an entree next time.

It was an amazing experience with a great atmosphere and excellent service. The food was delicious, and they specialized in various dishes.

Service at Nene’s was outstanding and super friendly. Ceviche was best we’ve ever had. Would highly recommend a visit!

Food here is sooo good!!! We asked about 4 different locals for food recommendations and all of them included this restaurant among their listings. It's a little more expensive compared to some of the other restaurants but definitely worth it.

Service:
My only potential complaint would be slowish service when it came time to pay, but service otherwise was pretty good! The waiters won't necessarily come by and check on you but if you raise your hand or make eye contact and gesture, they are really responsive and really nice. Honestly, even the slow service when we were ready to pay wasn't bad at all. My wife and I had a lovely time talking while waiting. Like it said it waa my only *potential* complaint.

Food:
Really really good. To start off we ordered Ceviche (pictured) which was absolutely delightful. Served with chips. Size was good for me and my wife. We maybe could have shared it with one more person that didn't eat much. But it's a perfect size for 2 people.

I then ordered the peppered steak (pictured) - served with a delicious brown sauce and some vegetables & toasted bread on the side. It is a tad on the salty side. Lots a flavor and incredibly juicy.

My wife ordered the chicken with the mushroom sauce (pictured). Served with the same sides as above. Chicken was incredibly moist and masterfully seared. Less salty than the steak entree, but just as flavorful!

Lasly, we asked the waiter for a dessert recommendation, and he said the tres leches (pictured). We decided to try it, and let me tell you, it was hands down the BEST tres leches I've ever had. This is saying something since I've had some excellent tres leches through my experiences as a latino.

If nothing else, definitely give this tres leches a try. It will change your world for the better.

Overall I'd give this place 4.5/5 stars, but would rather round up than down.

Will definitely be returning here next time I find myself in La Fortuna.

This place is a fabulous recommendation. We had the ceviche appetiser and it was so light and fresh. We ended up getting both specials for the day. The mahi mahi in white sauce and the Angus steak. Both served with mixed vegetables. They were quite tasty and came to us on a flaming plate. The limonata was refreshing.

My wife had the chef's salad and she raved about the pineapple. I had the herb-encrusted salmon which looked amazing and was tender, juicy and delicious. They had live music, a flamenco guitarist, on the Friday night we were there and he was amazing. Service was excellent and the homemade hot sauce was delicious.

So good! Best ceviche in town! Get the “special” ceviche and not the basic one. Great service and provided a lot of recommendations! Main dishes were really good too. My dish came out with flames (on purpose).

Everyone we talked to about eating establishments mentioned Nenes. We enjoyed a terrific meal on their porch. Our waiter, Jimmy, took care of us and had some great suggestions for what to order. Be sure to enjoy a meal at Nenes while visiting La Fortuna.

I highly recommend the garlic shrimp. I had the steak and jalapenos which was delicious. But... The garlic shrimp my friend ordered stole the show. It comes out on a flaming plate. Beautiful presentation and tastes wonderful.

Food was great, service was great! Price was good. Atmosphere and staff excellent. Lots of high quality dishes. Best restaurant in town. And yes our dishes came out on fire!

Best place to eat in La Fortuna. Been there with the family (3 kids 6, 16, 17). Very friendly and kind service. Menue offers something for everybody. Food was excellent - we had Pollo alla plancha, grilled fish and picanha steak. Everything very delicious.
We would love to come again, but our travel continuous.

Really awesome food and desserts with great views of the Arenal volcano. Plenty of parking space available. Big seating space with a nice rustic ambience. Staff is bilingual and very helpful. Food is great and served very aesthetically. Tres leches was the best I have ever eaten. The meat was a little undercooked for me so you might want to let them know to cook it well ahead of ordering. Good drinks menu too.
