Events have carried me past this restaurant several times in the last few months. I decided that we had to go try it. What a GEM!

First, atmosphere: If you are looking for an intimate setting, here it is. The tables are large but still cozy. Seating is very comfortable. Parking is plentiful and near. There are no obstructions and it should not be difficult to get a person with any type of mobility difficulty into this restaurant.

As usual for us in an Italian restaurant, we started with the carpaccio. It was generously portioned and well dressed with greens and large pieces of garlic (If you don't like garlic, why are you troubling an Italian restaurant? Stay home and eat toast.). My only regret is that we ordered one portion for the three of us to share. More's the pity there. Top marks.

I ordered the tagliata alla gorgonzola and the other two guests ordered the calamari alla griglia. To my surprise, all of the meat dishes came with fries. This must be a German influence and you cannot help but be sorry for the poor chef. I would love to see the option of a small portion of aglio olio (minus fish of course - really only with a small spray of parsley and some spicy chopped peppers). I had in mind to make a proper Italian order (antipasti, pasta, meat, dessert), but my fellow guests were not up for a long adventure at the table.

The steak was a DREAM. In this case, the chef was smarter than to give in to a too local influence. Without asking (I love this - I prefer that the cook makes the decision about the meat they have bought), my steak arrived just past blood rare (my American accent may have been part of the decision for the kitchen). Perfect. The bed of grilled seasonal vegetables was also delicious. The fries were fries. What do you want? Miracles?

My fellow guests both had the calamari all griglia. They were both very pleased. I would love to see this chef work with cuttlefish and lean on the lemon just a bit more, but there is no fault with the calamari alla griglia. These are simply my preferences.

For dessert, we had the limoncello and tartufo. Everything was lovely.

I had the Nero D'avola red and our friend had the primitivo. Both lived up to expectations.

Even though the food was lovely, the best part of the evening was the service. We never wanted for a thing. The server was prompt but never overbearing. To my delight, she spoke beautiful English; it is not required as I do speak German, but it is always the small touches that make you feel like a restaurant cares.

Last but by no means least, I must mention the end of meal visit from the son of our hostess. What a cutie! We will be back and back. I Ragazzi will be a recurrent feature in our restaurant rotation.

I could not have been happier with this restaurant. I am stunned beyond belief that this place is not packed to the rafters every day. As a community, all of Franken should feel shame that there is ever an empty table.

We decided to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary with a meal out at iRagazzi. It turned out to be an awesome evening. Lovely views. The food was excellent and everybody was friendly and helpful. We will definately go back there again.
