Blautopf

This is a fantastic lake! I haven't seen anything like it. The color of the water is amazing. The depth of Lake Arosto is amazing. And nearby there is a beautiful old abbey and a water mill. This is a place that you need to visit more than once.

As the name describes, it is a beautiful 'blue pot' from nature. Nestled in the Blaubeuren region of the Swabian Alb, this place is a real wonder. It is a natural water source and the water is blue all throughout the year. I have visited this place in early spring and late autumn and both are spectacular visits in their own ways. The water looks more blue during spring and summer due to the lighting, and in Autumn the amber and yellow autumn leaves reflect beautifully into the water and that is simply magical. There is a natural walking path that runs all around the Blue Topf. There is also a Kloster (monastry) right in front of the water body. This place calls for a perfect day trip. It is a good drive from Stuttgart by car or other nearby cities. I also saw a bus coming there from Blaubeuren Bahnhof which means that it is accessible through public transport as well. I will be posting pictures from early Spring and late Autumn to share how the lighting plays a huge role on how different this place appears at different times of the year. My personal favorite time to visit is Autumn.

Beautiful colour in a small lake.
Very good explanation 👏 provided, explaining the reason why it's blue.
Car needs to be parked little far also very small parking lot(especially for weekends).
From trainstation around 1.8km of walk which is not so much.

Fantastic place for a day out with family. Apart from the lake one can do the train trip, old city visit filled with fantastic restaurants & ice cream shops. Highly recommend if you are from Baden-Württemberg region since it is easily accessible . The place can be reached with public transport & for private transport you get enough parking places.

As the name suggests the water is really blue, The water's peculiarly blue color, varying in intensity depending on weather and flow, is the result of physical properties of the nanoscale limestone particles densely distributed in the water. You can take a round walk around the place. It’s 1.5 hours drive from Munich. On a beautiful sunny day getting a parking here can be a challenge. I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful little lake appearing blue in colour due to it's magnesium deposits at the base. There's a beautiful restaurant and an ice cream place at the lake too. There's a very nice hiking route here as well.

Had a lovely visit. Even though overcast, the water was beautiful. Cold December day, there were only a few other visitors there.
Water closet nearby was clean & good to use.
Had a feline greater close by.

Water color was not like in pictures, but It's happend because color changing by minerals amount in water. The place is looking very nice :)

Excellent natural place of water coming in blue and green. Trekking routes are also available. Nice car route too

Very impressive lake with unbelivable colors. Located in a forest with many hiking trails, Blautopf lake stands apart with its beauty from any similar lake in surrounding. You can spend some time in nearby resturant, or take a hike in the forest, or wander in the city with cafees and clean streets. Very easy to reach from Stuttgart, a nice escape over the summer weekend.

Never believed the blue water ...until we saw this place...nature's beauty! There is cave very deep inside and a train to look around .. check in the tourist info! There is a restaurant ...Small place but lot to gaze on a perfect weather.
