Another incredible historic site. No charge to walk the complex with the abbey, chapel, city walls and castle. Mix of ruin and refortified and in use. There’s lots of nooks and crannies to explore and huge trees. One thing that was really unique to this site was a map of the complex color coded by period of construction from the Roman to the Goths to the Renaissance on to present day. There’s a paid parking lot across the street and probably free street parking in the old city. The city of Calw is a cute little fairy tale village. There is a café on site but it was not open on the day we were there. Most of the complex is ADA accessible on cobblestones, cement and packed dirt but there are also some steps. Great for the whole family.

Pleasantly surprised with how peaceful and beautiful this abbey ruin was. We were the only ones visiting when we went.

We happened on this area while driving through the town. There was a medieval festival going on. The area was absolutely beautiful with an old church ruin. The area would even be nice if there was nor a festival going on. Was a very nice walk. The newer church is also very beautiful. We were very glad we stopped by and checked out this very old area.

Just L O V E L Y ! The little café inside is so cute, and the lady who served us had something nice to say to all her customers, we felt very welcomed.

Beautiful grounds and a wonderful little Cafe as you enter. Can't beat the views or the history if you're interested in seeing it. Kids loved it and there was tons of courtyards (hof) all around.

This is a great historical site. We did it after a hike and it served us we'll to also rest a little. Most of the splendor is still visible and the site is fairly big. I am not sure, if I would go there just to see the ruins but if you are in the area, it is well worth seeing.

Fascinating piece of old history, very close to Calw, impressive size and easily accessible by car. The museum was closed due to covid19, but the grounds alone are worth visiting. Allocate at least 2-3 hours.
