Pulperia A Garnacha

Heard about Melide's claim to fame with pulpos and online seems its a toss between garbacha and ezequiel. Ask a local and pointed to the latter but we opted the former - free of the unusual aroma from boiling pulpos . Service was quick and attentive. Ordered small plate of pulpo with spicy pimenton dusting, broiled zamburinas, and galician pie. Pulpo was fresh and cooked just tender with hint of salt and pimenton, scallops on shell were equally tasty marinated in olive/butter abd herbs and the pie us really like the empanadas but the atun was richly sauteed in tomato, onions and bell pepper.

Loved not only by pilgrims but by locals as well (which is always the sign of a good food), this place is one big hall with branches and long tables where like in tavern one can enjoy famous pulpo, made from frozen octopus, grilled peppers and descent beer. In general, all Pulperías in Melide serve solid quality food, but Garnacha has a reputation and good marketing:) Service is very efficient and I was offered quite a nice shot of liquor after my meal.

Fantastic, best of all, we arrived with MTB and they open their warehouse to leave them there, the octppus was incredible, the food was excellent, the service great, I will recommend and come back

Food was incredible. Ordered pulpo, pimiento padrones, and orejas. All were magnificent. They didn’t give us any utensils though, nor individual plates, and I was too tired and hungry to wait. They gave us toothpicks to eat everything with.

Amazing pulpo and amazing chorizo. Perfect stop off half way between Palas de Rei and Arzúa.

Good food, good prices, warm, dry, spacious. Easily the fastest service anywhere in the Camino. Just what you need after walking for hours in driving rain.

This is one of our best meals during our Camino. We had the Pulpo and the Padron Peppers. Highly recommended.

Spacey place, very very full of people when i arrived. Service is just so-so. But the pulpo was really good! Love it and the price is reasonable too. Before you enter there is someone who sometimes give demo as he cuts the pulpo. Really friendly person.

Melide is famous for enjoying octopus. The restaurant provides the local octopus in cheap but in good quality ones for pilgrims. Theredfore it is nice place to enjoy octopus in local environment.

The absolute best place for awesome pulpo!!! Great seafood, great prices, great people! Totally recommend if you're ever in Melide, Spain.

The pulpo is amazing!!!!!! It’s incredibly tender and flavorful. Highly recommend the potatoes too, as they absorb all the flavors from the soup used to boil the pulpo. When I took the first bite of these potatoes, I instantly regretted not getting another one.
However, the interior has a very very strong pulpo smell, which I can't stand, so I opted for take-out. Still, a must-try in Melide!

No fuss pulperia with filling dishes you should expect to find in a ‘pulperia’. Not super cheap but good quality and big enough to accommodate the pilgrim crowd.

I try not to eat octopus, because they are just amazing animals. When I do, however, I make sure it’s worth it (for whom, me? not the poor animal, of course…). Anyway, the pulpo a la plancha (grilled, not boiled, which imo is better) is delicious - soft, with garlic, and just a great protein experience. I hope my particular octopus had a great life into it landed in my mouth.

Very good pulpo. Friendly service. A must when visiting or passing through Melide. It's one of the best pulpo in Galicia as what I've heard most Spanish/locals say.
