Monastery of San Xoán de Caaveiro

Super worth visiting and biking/walking from the visitors centre.

I really enjoyed this monastery. It is surrounded by forest and you can get there following 2 different ways. 1 is to take a transport to the Bridge Cristina crossing river Eume and walking up 500m to monastery. Or, you can hike 7.5 km from the parking lot, 1.7km before the first hanging bridge. This way you can get to know the nature around you. Then go backway, crossing a bridge over Rego De Mazoca, near the Muiño de Sesin ruins. The monastery is quite small and picturesque. As a reward you can have a nice coffee and snack in Taberna de Caaveiro. The staff is very friendly and they speak English.

The hike to this 10th century monastery is what makes it so special. It’s nestled deep within Fragas do Eume natural park. (Free entry. No tickets.)

Visita obligada si visitamos As Fragas do Eume.
En un entorno maravilloso de bosques con el río Eume como guía.
En el monasterio hay una cantina pero el día de mi visita estaba cerrada.
Varias áreas recreativas para comer entre arbolado impresionante al lado de la carretería que sube.

Llegamos en auto por el medio del bosque, un camino increible, en perfecto estado aun siendo camino rural. Entrar al monasterio es trasladarse en el tiempo, lugar muy lindo para observar y disfrutar de la naturaleza. Esta eclavado denteo de fraga do eume, que es un parque hermoso. Totalmente recomendable para ir por cualquier medio

Hermoso paisaje, con mucha vegetación, para respirar aire puro. El camino para llegar en coche es un poco complicado. Vale la pena caminar por sus alrededores, muy atento la persona que cuida el lugar.
