Iberian town of Ullastret

A huge and fascinating site beautifully maintained for easy understanding with audio guide included in the entrance price. All for 7 euros each which also gives access to 4 other sites. A steal!

Small farm town, beautiful scenery, and perfectly quiet. Near the beach as well as the mountains, we stayed here as an in-between for the beach and girona and it was fantastic. There is good food In towns nearby only a few kilometers away from seafood to Catalan. Would be back. Make sure to visit the ruins.

Very impressive Iberian town from the Iron Age (600 BCE). The outside walls are stunning and very well preserved, it's hard to believe that they survived the Roman conquest and got to us in such good shape. There is a self-guided audiotour in English, Catalan, Spanish (maybe in French too?); it takes a bit to load, but overall it's worth using it to understand what you see. Totally worth the visit!

The bigest Iberian culture archaeological site in the world. They probide you an audioguide to understand the visit but you must watch the video with a 3D rebuilding of the city to understand how it was in the 3rd century BC. The entrance is free for teachers.

Unique place full of history. Get the 3d video in the museum - really brings home how much the landscape has changed.

Sempre és gratificant visitar aquests indrets que traspuen història. Molt aconseguit el vídeo explicatiu. Bona feina feta i la que queda per descobrir.

Hem aprofitat les Jornades Europees del Patrimoni, visita al poblat ibèric d'Ullastret gratuïta. Hi vam reservar per Internet i només a calgut entrar per recepció on ens ates una noia molt amable, que ens ha explicat tot el que havíem de fer, autoguia amb el mòbil i molt còmode. També podíem assistir a una ponència, vídeo explicatiu i museu. Visita molt recomanable en un bonic entorn.

L'illa d'Ibèrica d'Ullastret és un important jaciment arqueològic que es troba a la localitat de Ullastret, a la comarca del Baix Empordà, a la província de Girona, a Catalunya, Espanya. És considerat un dels millors exemples de ciutat ibèrica dins de la península ibèrica.

Aquesta antiga ciutat va ser habitada pels ibers, un poble protohistòric que va viure a la zona des dels segles VI aC fins al segle II aC. La ciutat va tenir una gran importància política, econòmica i social durant aquest període, sent un centre de control i poder en la regió.

El jaciment d'Ullastret va ser descobert l'any 1931 i les excavacions arqueològiques que s'hi van realitzar van començar l'any 1950. A través d'aquestes excavacions s'ha pogut conèixer i estudiar en profunditat la estructura urbanística de la ciutat, així com els seus edificis i defenses.

El conjunt arqueològic d'Ullastret inclou bastants edificis d'ús domèstic i altres que tenien funcions més públiques, com ara magatzems, graaners i temples. També s'han trobat restes de muralles i altres defenses que protegien la ciutat. L'arquitectura de la ciutat està influïda principalment pels estils grec i púnics.

Actualment, l'illa d'Ullastret és visitable i té un museu que explica la història de la ciutat ibèrica. Aquest jaciment arqueològic és considerat un important testimoni de la cultura ibera i el seu estudi ha proporcionat grans coneixements sobre aquesta antiga civilització.

Al arribar trobareu un aparcament molt gran i ampli. A continuació la barrera amb la taquilla, allà podeu comprar la entrada o si la porteu validar-la, us faran entrega de la àudio guía. La atenció del noi que hi ha allà es excelent. Accediu al complex per un camí i arribareu a la ciutat ibérica, marcada amb números, que heu d'introduir a la àudio guia.
