Had a very nice meal, stunning food and great service here. The highlight for me was the monkfish slices. The rest were good, but that was great. I'd also strongly recommend the olive bread, in combination with the custom oil. I'd cheerfully give the food 5 stars, apart from the fact that the main was tepid in temperature. That didn't matter for the meat milfoi, but did for the turbot.

The 4 of us had a super fun and fabulous meal at El Xato recently. We enjoyed the food, the hospitality and the setting overlooking the lovely old church in La Nucia.

From start to finish the meal was is amazing. We had forgotten to tell them when we booked that one of us needed gluten free choices and the kitchen did not miss a beat. They told us from the start they could accommodate this request which was much appreciated.

This is a family run business that has been in the family for many years. When you eat here you feel the family pride and history and also how they have a very updated approach to the food while honoring a lot of local products and cuisine.

As you dine there, you get to know all the family over the course of a meal. We loved that Mom (the chef), Dad (the wine expert), and their daughter (who was our food ambassador and server) and work together with their other staff to bring together an experience you will not forget.

Excellent lunch!
Surprising dishes, full of taste. Great presentation. Winelist a bit small for a Michelin star, but enough choice of affordable wines.

Excellent menu, a combination of the past 25 years, providing a truly fulfilling gastronomic experience. The combination of flavors and pairings with each individual dish is superb, and the selection of wines perfectly complements the culinary journey. The setting in the heart of the old town adds to the overall charm and ambiance. This establishment is truly deserving of its prestigious 1-star Michelin rating. I highly recommend making early reservations to fully enjoy the delightful experience.

We enjoyed four hours of gastronomic ecstasy. The staff, presentation, and food were excellent. I have never tasted so many wonderful flavors in one sitting. An added bonus was birthday tunes played on a trumpet for another birthday guest. A truly fun experience. My only regret is that I was not staying locally and could not indulge in the matching wines because I was the designated driver. If you are anywhere near Alicante make sure to visit.

A big thank you 🙏

Great ambiance, it has a few tables which feels so nice special. You sit next to the windows so it feels you are partially outside above the street.

Food and flavors where great, what a journey

Staff was very friendly and always trying to explain and help.

The owner made it special by playing some music as well.

One of the best restaurants in Valencia .Not only the food is very creative and flash but also super delicious and delicate. Besides, their Cava which is selected by the owner of the restaurant is also super amazing. The chef is friendly and cute. Perfect service and food.

If you can, definitely make time for this place. It'll knock your socks off.

We had dinner for 4 and chose the larger set menu; 2 with the smaller matching wine set, and 2 with the full set. The following 4 hour evening was unforgettable.

Staff are extremely welcoming and friendly at this family owned & operated restaurant. We were seated outside for a marvellous atmosphere and were lucky enough to experience a cool, comfortable evening climate. Ingredients, wines and recipes are all locally sourced and inspired. English explanations of everything were astounding.

I've deliberately not shared photos of all the dishes and wines - no spoilers! - but enough to give you an idea. I believe the menu rotates seasonally anyway.

The real charm of this place (IMO) is created by the 4 generations of the same family living above and running the restaurant for 100+ years. That's not something you find often, and it really shines through in the quality of the whole experience.

A lovely culinary experience. Many dishes with exquisite tastes paired with super interesting wines. Very attentive staff. I was truly surprised to find this treasure in little La Nucia.

Exceptional food, great service. Worthy of the high reviews and surely on track for the second star….additional very nice touch was the chef coming out to each table for a brief chat, very respectful and a unique touch. Thank you.

Excellent restaurant delivering stunning food and showcasing local produce. A small intemit dining area with approx 8 tables is served by knowledgeable hosts who explained each dish with passion (in English). Well deserving of its Michelin status.

While scrolling through restaurant recommendations we found this restaurant and decided to give it a try. And it was well worth it.

The food is inspired by local cuisine and interpreted in an avantgarde way and there are some surprises throughout the menu. We were really impressed with the quality of the ingredients and the way they worked together to create a very memorable dining experience.

Hospitality is great, it's a family run business and they show it. The restaurant dosn't come with the usual Michelin star rated service, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Au contraire - a nice personal flavor.

Only critisicm in my point of view is the wine card - or the lack thereof. We didn't want the wine flight so we requestes the wine card. The house sommelier tried to find someting fitting to our taste. We ordered something we wouldn't have ordered otherwise (that's a plus) but I would have liked to see what's hidden in the wine cellar.

Definitely worth a visit - I'll be back on my next stay in the area.
Oh, and the price is amazing.

Tiny family run restaurant in La Nucia which recently celebrated its centenary. It's popular so booking's advised (they turned away three separate groups of people the last time we were there). There's a good amount of choice on the menu (which is also offered in languages other than Spanish) but for a first visit I would recommend choosing one of the tasting menus together with the paired wines; there's an impressive cellar (which you can see if you have to go downstairs to the loos) and the somellier's enthusiasm is palpable. The chef is doing exciting stuff (they have held a Michelin Bib Gourmand for some years) and she generally pops out to see how her creations have been received.

We used El Xato as the caterers for our wedding, and they were incredible!
We got so many compliments on the food from our guests, particularly for the range of canapes.

We visited the restaurant for our tasting and had a lovely time. The team were very welcoming and helpful. We would definitely recommend!

Amazing lunch, high quality food, best service, it was simply a great experience.
Also than you for your flexibility of accommodating 1 vegetarian, 1 person with food allergies and 1 normal menu.
