Beautiful hike with amazing views! We took the bus from Granada to Monachil, then continued to this Maps pin, then started on the left of the roas through the River path. This goes on through the "cave" and it's relatively easy, but with some narrow areas. Maybe we took a different route somewhere because we missed the aquaduct and waterfall, but it was still amazing. When the path goes away from the river after the cave, you can start returning following the yellow circular route, on the dirt road on the hills. It is a reasonably steep ascent without shade, so make sure to have enough water and energy, but the views of the mountains and valley at the top make it totally worth it! Also saw some mountain goats on the way, and the quiet of the area is priceless. The whole trip took us about 4-5 hrs with some stops along the way, coming back to Monachil at 6-7pm.

A lovely trip. Suitable for families with children who know how to walk or in a baby carrier. A circular route of about 4 km. Some steep ascents and descents. Full of water, walking along the river. Full of places where you can jump for a cool dip. Stunning waterfall, suspension bridges and charming views. The village of Monachil is beautiful. recommended!

Lovely circular walk for anyone visiting nearby Granada or elsewhere. It’s a very causal hike & trail meaning it is suitable to all, from the old to the children.
It begins as an incline on tarmac road then leads you in pure nature where there’s flowing streams of mountain water beneath you and towering trees above. Along the trail there’s small bridges across streams which are very picturesque. The summit at the top is incredible, the pictures and videos just do not do it justice.
The route is well signposted. Going up it took us an hour at a very casual pace and the way down is half the distance completing the loop, again well signposted. We took a taxi from Granada as it was two of us and left around 9am, the ride was 15 minutes and cost around 20 euros each way. There are small cafes at the start where we had breakfast when we completed the walk.

Very unique and fun trip for everyone, little to no English signage and I wouldn't recommend it if you have issues walking. We walked roughly 9km and it took us close to 4 hours.

Absolutely beautiful trail! When you walk by the rocks, it is very narrow and I had to crawl for some parts. I wouldn't recommend for someone unable to crouch very well. Else wise, the paths are very level and wide

Beautiful trail from the Village to the famous 'Los Cahorros'-hiking trail. A mud path through lush and exuberant vegetation along the natural water course of the river Monachil, with its strong current and lots of whitewater rapids (in spring). Highly recommended particularly in spring, when the wildflowers blossom and the river carries the melted ice and snow from the peaks of the Sierra Nevada (the river Monachil has its source in the Veleta, which is the 2nd highest peak of the Sierra Nevada mountain range).

An amazing route and a real adventure! I did an approx 10km circular loop route. The path starts easy next to a little stream, but then turns into a bit more challenging with the path making you climb over branches and up fairly steep (but) small bits of the path. Next you walk along the edge of a small canal (surefootedness recommended) and you occasionally have to hang on to metal handles while ducking under low hanging bits of the cliff. Sounds a bit scary, and can be, but the canal next to it is only a couple of meters below. I liked the feeling of pushing yourself. After the canal bit, the path goes up the hillside and offers yet another type of scenery. Very varied views, walking experience with nice stops for picnic along the way. By no means a cake-walk, but rewarding and varied. Highly recommended!

A wonderful hike, with beautiful view points. We started at Los carrhos bajos where there is a lot of shade and water. My dog came along and loved the hike.

A phenomenal trail if you start out on the green trail (Sendero de Rio) which stays on the river the whole time. It far exceeded my expectations. Make sure to stop at the longest bridge (the 4th one) and go down the short hill to the two waterfalls. You can easily get into the water and cool off! After the long bridge, the trail gets very interesting... super narrow and challenging at times, requiring crawling and metal holds bolted into the rock. There are also sport climbing routes in certain areas of this trail.

We chose to make it a loop and came back on the yellow trail up the mountains, which got real hot and a bit arduous, but definitely doable if you bring water or maybe do it before the afternoon sun. I went with kids mid-day and they made it. Near the end, I highly recommend stopping at Taberna Puntarrón, which is a bit expensive but extremely good food. After that, its only a 10 minute walk back down to the trailhead.

Also, as others have mentioned, the signage is pretty limited. Take a picture of the map at the trailhead to give yourself some idea of where you're at, but it's difficult to match up to the reality on the trail.

Great accessible gorge walk, well signed and amazing paths carved into the gorge sides. Busy on the weekend so we were told. Weekday in April was perfect

Very beautiful wandering and climbing up from the River Monachil. It was a bit long and hard for me, but my Spanish friends helped me. I'm very happy I made it. We relaxed on a mountain top watching the sunset.
Precioso!! Gracias a mis amigas

Very nice hike. I wouldn't say it easy, but definitely doable for most people. Parking signs were super clear. Sometimes the green/yellow route signs on the track were not as clear. Highly recommended.
