Restaurante El Asombro Garden Grill

The most expensive meal of our trip, and we were wondering whether it was actually open when we turned up at 9pm on a Sunday in a very quiet part of town.

But all was good - in fact the T-bone was exceptional. Enjoyed the sausage, and OMG the bread was divine, some of the nicest bread I've ever had.

Decent service, but nothing stand out.

High quality meet, great wine selection. Service is friendly and attentive and speaks fluent English. If you want high quality cuisine, this restaurant is a must!

Staff:
Customer service was beyond exceptional, despite us not being able to speak a word of Spanish.

Hint; Use Google translator in Gandia, it hasn't failed us yet.

Food bits:
Octopus was so tender, perfectly cooked.
Salmon and avocado salad doesn't mess around, it is exactly that and not stingy.
Tomahawk was huge, fat marbeling was perfect. The sort of steak you will struggle to find in even the best steak houses.
T-Bone was full of flavour, fresh and certainly of a high caliber.

How would you like your steak?
The steak's 'cooked state' leans toward the rarer side, but have full confidence in the chef - he is quite the master. If you are sensitive, ask for the next grade up.

Chef:
We asked for some pretty odd changes to our plates, not a question, it was simple done. Well done steak request(I wouldn't dare), my wife was very happy despite the T-Bone being 2 inches thick - unheard of.
PS: This is a fire grill, expect flame grilled perfection.

Open hours - don't be disappointed !!
Currently (March 2019) they only open for part of the day, Friday, Sat and Sunday morning. Don't miss this place! Call to be sure they are open and not on siesta.

Caution - Google is not reliable for when this restaurant is open.
I'd also prepare to book a table, though it was quiet for us, they are newly open and already extremely successful in the off season!

What to expect to pay?
50+ Euro per person, excluding alcohol for a great meal.
Easy to just spend 30euro pp with a steak, drink starter and desert.
Our pictured meal - tomahawk 44Euro, T-Bone 19Euro, salmon avocado salad, sausage, 2x octopus, = Total 150 Euro with drinks).

Filling?
I'm confident it would be more than enough for the portion sizes. FYI I'm a big bloke and I eat big. My wife is a good eater too.

Beautiful setting and amazing food...and even more, great service!

This place is nothing short of awesome! The starters and salads are inventive and delicious. The steaks are tender and flavorful. The bread should definitely not be passed up! The service is exceptional. Everything is top notch! If I could give more than 5 stars, I certainly would.

We went there with our family for lunch. Very nice place with great atmosphere, very friendly staff and tasty food. My husband and dad took 1 kg steak - was perfect. Me and my mom ribs - they were so so. Not bad but i wouldn’t take them again. In spite of that we enjoyed everything. Highly suggest to take their bread and dips in the beginning :) very tasty.

Really good place! Just moved to Gandía and this will definitely be one of our to go places when we have visitors from home. Good food, great service and very nice garden and atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit and it is probably one of the best places in Gandía.
