I absolutely love this mountain. So many good memories. We brought the first ever kettlebell up here. People asked us if it was already there, and then they wanted a photo with it, I charged them €10 each! Just kidding, we got some cholocate in return.

Also, we did it in our flip-flops and carrying camping gear for 4 days. There is a camping spot just before you reach the top. Be prepared, it can get windy, but that's the joy of camping isn't it? No sleep.

Looking forward to visiting this area again. It's magic in the summer and in the winter.

A wonderful mountain bike ride where you feel so alone in a wilderness, however the peak was busy. Pick your day wisely and you will be rewarded with magnificent 360 degree views. I went at the end of September, it was 6 degrees at the top. The route I took was clear. The scale of the area cannot be reflected in photographs, but there are people and buildings in some of them. Enjoy!

We hiked there from Hoya de la Mora and it was incredible! we took a bus from Garanada and then from Hoya de la Mora we followed the hiking trail. It was a hard clime but it was worth it! The view is fantastic, you can see a small observatory near Hoya de la Mora, a radio observatory a little bit further and an other observatory after the radio one. Also, the mountain is beautiful, and when you get up to the peak it is breathtaking! I cannot recommend enough this hike!

Maybe not a highest peak but definitely have the best veiwes. Stonishing view of 360° around, one side is on Granada and whole valley, elevation different of almost 3000m and other side sea and coast what is difference in elevation of 3400m.

Great hike, up to 1000 m of elevation, worth doing. Beautiful views from the top.

The road to the top of the mountain is scenic and windy. As you approach the top, vegetation gradually disappear until you find surrounded by a moon-like landscape made od dust a and rocks. At the top, the passage is narrow and only tThose riding a motorbike can descend on the other side toward the coast. The descend also is a "liberating" ride: no traffic, no crowd, no noise. The scenery gradually returns to normality and green fields take the place of gray rocks. Several small elevated canals used for irrigation run from the top and provide fresh water to refresh. I camped for one night in the fields on the way down to the coast and it was such a calming experience.... simply beautiful..

The scenery is amazing .. A beautiful place, accessible by bike, the end of the path is rocky - MTB is more comfort.

Absolutely incredible views, and so silent. We drove to Hoya de la Mora from Granada, and took the trail from there. The trail is easy to follow, though in Spring time there is still some snow at the top so bring layers and a map!

Amazing views once I’d got my breath back, term paved, is a very loose term, much like the surface in the final 5km. Hard going on a road bike.

It is a dream to climb this hill with a bike. I recommend cyclingmalaga.com as your Go-to place. Steve is an excellent guide who will escort you safely up and back down again.

I did the hike to the Pico Veleta today (May 2022) from Hoya de la Mora. The Pico is beautiful, and you can see 360 degrees, including a view of the Mulhacén (highest mountain in Sierra Nevada, which is just 180 meters higher). Even if you don't reach the top, the view on the way there is already great. If you have the time to climb this mountain, go for it!

Plus, if anyone wants to follow in my footsteps, here are some tips:

- you can take the bus from Granada to Sierra Nevada / Hoya de la Mora which leaves at 9.00am in summer, and departs for Granada at 17.00. This gives you enough time to do the hike.
- There was still a lot of snow, especially when nearing the summit. I didn't have high hiking boots or ice cleats, but you definitely need them if there's snow. I sank up to my knee in the snow from time to time.
- If there's snow, it's quite a demanding hike. It took me 5.5 hours and I'm relatively fit.

Hope that helps!

The views here are breathtaking. It's crazy seeing the mountains and plains stretch on for hundreds of kilometers even seeing the sea and peak of Africa if you're lucky. The hike is difficult but definitely worth it.

Great place and cery friendly staff.
Hot shower were great and cost 2euroa for 4mins.

Dinner was 17.5 and was a buffet of too much food, lentil soup, pasta with cheese and some great grilled pork.
Breakfast was also very tasty and 6Eur.

From there is is about 2-3hrs bike to the peak.

I've been there at the end of a Mulhacen hike. Great place with great views. East to access so there are lots of tourists but not as many as in my country.

It's the best for hiking, 3300 meters but some points to remember before you come here

1. Very windy up here don't forget warmer clothes
2. It's cold up hear
3. Bicycle rides on the way
4.on the top no restaurants bring your own water and food
5 there is no place on the top to stay for long

"Again bring something to protect you from cold and strong wind"
