La Mandragora

Eating at this place today was one of my best food experiences in my lifetime, that is the only way I can describe it.
The quality of the food is then topped up with the friendliness and kindness of the owner.

The albóndigas were too much for me, it was a big serving but yummy. We arrived early so didn't have to wait.

We went there after a hiking tour along the beaches de los Genoveses and del Monsul. The restaurant was not just a lifesaver for us, as they offered food also in the late afternoon, which is pretty unusual in Spain. The food itself was really good, also vegetarians and vegans have different excellent options to choose from. Also excellent is the variety of beers they offer, it was difficult to decide which one to choose. :)
A surprise was the Surprise Dessert they offered to us at the end of the meal - a sweet cream from avocado with crumbles and chocolate. Never had a dessert from avocado before, it was really good.
Overall, a clear recommendation!

Very good food with a selection of meat, veggie and fish. Excellent tapas with each drink. Friendly and fast service. The atmosphere is relaxed - definitely not a tourist trap. I can really recommend this restaurant.

Called in on our way home from Cala de Barronal for a drink and found excellent friendly service and great tapas. We only had two beers but they were accompanied by two delicious rolls that were like mini enchiladas. Slightly spicy but full of flavour. We decided to try the quesadillas and we were not disappointed. Our visit only cost €10 which was a bargain. San Jose itself is well worth a visit, it’s modern but well constructed and has a great range of bars and fish restaurants. We will be back there again in the future.

A little bit off the wall. Great burgers, both veggie and non. Unsurpassed selection of bottled beers. We are going again.
