One of the best spots in Ciboure, south-west France. We stopped at Fort de Socoa on our way from Biarritz to Hendaye and San Sebastian. There is plenty of parking very close to the fort.

Very picturesque scenery, perfect spot for nature or portrait photoshooting. Weather and sky might change several times over just one hour- that’s the ocean’s behavior!

Although you can't enter in the fort, there are lots of walks and amazing scenery all around the fort. Beautiful place.

Beautiful and welcoming place. Stayed for a few nights besides a safe and clean beach in our campervan in the low season there is no paying for parking. There are some lovely walks and Greenways to be explored here, clean public toilets on the beach front and a number of restaurants and shops. There are also drinking water fountains scattered about along the walks and nearby parks. Also if you are up for a little walk to a bigger and busier area 'more touristy' with lovely ice-cream. Head to Saint-Jean-de-Luz which you can see in the distance from this beach.

Beautiful promenade by the port, you can't visit the fortification inside but still nice!! You'll fine a small beach calmer that the main one, quiet for children

Good little restaurants, great views of crashing waves, and the interesting story and transport of the "home-made" concrete wave-breaker blocks.

Really pretty location and a lovely sheltered beach situated at one corner of the bay of St Jean de Luz. Good chance to walk along the breakwater from the fort to look out to sea or back towards Socoa and St Jean de Luz main town.

Great old fort at the edge of the bay. It’s all boarded up but there is a lifeguard station and a nice beach that is quieter than the others. We sat in the natural shade by the wall which was nice and cool, something there wasn’t on any of the other beaches nearby!

We were there in a light stormy weather, Atlantic was eager and readily showing its power, waves beating the great retainer walls and subsequent huge concrete blocks. Great place to experience St.Jean de Luz from afar.
