We wanted to come ever since we saw it on the TV series Europe from above, and it was even better than expected. Very friendly staff, beautifully refurbished to mirror the station's appearance from its original opening in 1928. Large rooms, excellent wifi. Close to many hiking trails. We definitely will be returning.

My family had a very nice stay here for two nights.
Very nice hotel that with great staff. Special mention to Sergio and Jenni who we felt went above and beyond to make our stay special.
I think that two nights is probably enough in the area though. Not a lot to do in the town unless you are there to hike.

We stayed here in early March 2024, my husband had wanted to come ever since he saw an Abandoned Engineering tv programme about the old station. So when he discovered it had opened as a hotel, he was very excited! Suffice to say, it exceeded all his expectations, he loved the hotel conversion and being able to walk around all the abandoned railway sheds and tunnels. We came in the snowy season and the scenery was stunning. Personally I loved the hotel, the staff were friendly and helpful, and endlessly patient with some of the more trying guests. The food was great, but I would echo another reviewer about the length of time it takes to get coffee at breakfast. However, I was in two minds about it being open for the public to wander in and out (I assume this is to do with how the renovation was funded?) as at some points it was like being in a rather expensive exhibit, especially when you are in the pool area with people walking past and peering in the windows (they really need to have blinds or something). We enjoyed our stay and maybe we will come back in a few years time to see how it is developing.

What an exceptional stay we've had at the Estacion hotel of Canfranc!
Starting with the obvious: staying in a former train station, you constantly get this feeling of glimpsing into the past, and can imagine yourself being on a platform, waiting for a train to bring you on your next adventures. The music played in the restaurants and cafe areas make it even more realistic!
Service-wise: it was absolute perfection. The gents and women are there to advise, guide and help you with your enquiries, and at the same time friendly, very tranquil and quiet, so you can still plentifully enjoy your experience.
Food-wise: we got the pleasure of experiencing the special 1928 wagon, with a magnificent setting (it's always been my dream to eat in an early 20th century train), with beautiful tableware, and unexpectedly, amazingly delicious food to enjoy. If it was not enough, the service was perfect, both in terms of timing, but also of knowledge. My highlight was the discovery of a local wine (Edra Benditas Cabras), made possible by the sweet lady serving us.
Finally, accomodation-wise: we just enjoyed the comfort of the room, a romantic nest to recover after hikes.

The hotel is excellent, but what makes it even more exceptional is also the environment. Hiking around was a pleasure, experiencing the wilderness of the Pyrénées and its wonders.

We've planned to come back again, this time in winter to experience the snow and Christmas vibes. We can't wait.

Canfranc Estacion Hotel is truly one of a kind! This historic gem has been beautifully restored, maintaining its original architectural charm while offering modern comforts. The service and infrastructure are top-notch, and the cozy, comfortable beds made us wish we could take them home!

The staff is incredibly friendly and always ready to assist, especially Javi the port-man. He is the most caring person we've met in all our travels. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted with a glass of cava or fresh water, making you feel immediately welcomed.

Don’t miss the pool – it’s a wonderfully relaxing experience! I could go on and on about how amazing this place is. This is our second year visiting, and we hope to return again and again. If you’re looking for a memorable stay, Canfranc Estacion Hotel is a must-visit!

This place is the transformation of The 2020s. This is now again a beautiful hotel, well done. Stay, visit, bring your Motorhome or simply just admire sipping a coffee or glass of champagne.

Excellent renovation of the majestic building of the old train station. The breakfast was very good with great quality of food but it needs some things to be done more.
It’s still brand new but there is willingness. They’re not ready. It seems though that soon enough the hotel will shine!

We fully agree with reviewers reminding everyone that only people who have actually stayed at the hotel should be writing reviews and not those just wandering in and then complaining when told that some areas are reserved for hotel guests primarily.

As many others have written, we too are very thankful that the Aragón government bought and saved this iconic building and that now guests can enjoy staying in a truly historic site.

We understand the challenges of trying to provide five-star service with obligatory public spaces. We too were at times annoyed by the very many tourists wandering around, but we're sure that the Canfranc Estacíon will find ways of offering the chance for the general public to appreciate the renovations as well as to enable hotel guests to feel the exclusivity they're paying for.

Our experience began wonderfully with a quick check-in, two glasses of champagne and the excellent concierge Lucía fluent in English and German as well as of course Spanish, who booked our meals and a tour and answered all our questions in detail. Fernando in his elegant uniform mirroring the era when the train station first opened took us to our duplex suite and showed us how to operate the lighting and the neat Japanese-style toilets. The duplex suites are located in the two towers on either end of the corridors that as others have mentioned really give you the sense of being on a train - a very long one.

The bed was luxurious and the shower very easy to use. We're not sure if most travelers watch TV - we haven't turned on a TV in a hotel room now in years. Instead of the huge screens on both floors of our suite, we'd have appreciated more electric sockets for our notebooks, tablets, and phones.

We are very much in favor of having guests pay for extra services, like a spa or swimming pool, that other guests like us don't use, so we very much hope that the hotel keeps the fees in spite of any complaints from guests who want something for nothing.

One experience we'd recommend for everyone is the extraordinary meal in the Canfranc Express, two parked railway cars between the hotel and the new Spanish train station. We've experienced good multi-course meals before, but this one was a unique experience, beginning in a small building in front of the hotel, where we were greeted with tapas and drinks and then guided through a tunnel back in the main hall of the hotel along the way with tidbits both edible and historical. We learned more about the history of the station and also French-Spanish-Aragon connections, received our "passports" then upon entering the train car and were greeted by four chefs preparing the courses to follow. We were amazed at the choreography of those who brought and explained in detail each course and dish. Only after we read up about the experience did we realize that the two chefs who had created this wonderful experience had also served us from beginning to end. Chapeau to Ana and Eduardo!

We also experienced some of the "growing pains" of brand new hotels: the quality of food in the main restaurant El Internacional was too often not acceptable. Our recommendation: please reduce the number of options available and explain explicitly the challenges of running a new restaurant in an isolated area and then ensure what you do offer is edible. Where no explanation or improvement is needed is for the quality of service: Every single one of the people we met was very polite, friendly, and helpful, and did their very best to help us feel at home, evidence of smart management and excellent training.

One hope for the future - PLEASE close this area to traffic and keep the loud motorcycles away. Once the trains are fully running, there's no need for any more automobile traffic either. Then the Canfranc Station will be truly a paradise in the mountains.

We really enjoyed our visit, although were a bit disappointed that we weren't able to arrive by train due to engineering work.

Ambiente tranquilo y relajado .
Los paseos alrededor del hotel son espectaculares.
