Really nice visit. We did the full experience with the museum, the restaurant and the castle visit and the wine tasting. We had a great time. The restaurant is offering local dishes with a great value/quality rating. The wine tasting is friendly but professional. The castle visit allows to know more about the historical background of the region. A must go!

Visited today and thought the Chateau was beautiful with stunning views. A very professionally run visitor attraction, great value for money. Had a coffee at the restaurant overlooking the Chateau. Wine tasting was very informative and we were assisted by a very knowledgeable English young lady.

Very interesting exposition obout wine production. Castle really beautifull from outside, located on top of hill with great views on wineyards. Inside family history and some expositions, quite spartan. Several times per day progamm of different venues. Degustation of wines, as well as nice shop of own and regional wines, local specialities. Staff very kind, all spoke also English.

Well worth a visit. For €15 entry we got to see the interactive wine museum which was very interesting, wine tasting including 3 wines (and the glasses to take home), and access to see the chateu which was nice. The views were lovely. Definitely one of the better things to do in the area and the staff were lovely and helpful.

Lovely Chateau situated atop a modest hill. Great to take a scenic short walk (we had our small dog with us). Plus during May to September there is a restaurant/ bar with an outdoor terrace serving a well priced, tasty weekday lunch offer (19 to 22 euros).

€10 entrance fee per person + additional for wine tasting.
Lunch (addt’l charge) was delicious at Pavillon Brizay, inside the Chateau gates.
You’re free to walk around the castles and vineyards.

Excellent information centre with lots of details on Monbazillac and wine making in general. Very well put together. Just the speaker "bubbles" in French and English interfere with each other a bit. About 2 hours needed minimum to take advantage of everything. Nice shop with 1 tasting wine included in entry fee of €10.

Emily gave us a guided tasting of three Monbazillac wines in the most excellent English. She explained the dégustation method: 1. Looking at through the glass at the colour and the slowness of the drops from the viscosity of the sugar content. 2. the various aromas to detect which I find hard to discern without being told what to smell for. 3. The tasting (breathe out through your nose). We were able to ask to ask lots of questions on the wider subject including the place of Sauternes. And of course we succumbed to purchasing all three we had tried, to take home.

We went on to the château itself and learned about the religious wars and the "troubles" between Roman Catholicism and Protestants in which the occupants of the house were involved. The basement includes a wine making presentation aimed at children, but works well for adults too!

Cost €16.50 per adult, to taste 3 wines. The restaurant was not open when we visited.

Really lovely tour and wine tasting around Chateau Monbazillac. Friendly staff and easily accessible in English too. They have a small cafe there too, can easily spend 1-1.5hrs there.
Would highly recommend

Nice walk around the estate. It's definitely something a family can enjoy. For history fans, you have the opportunity to learn a lot of things about the château and other bits of French history through the expositions. They also offer a selection of red and white wines. Do try their dessert wines!

The château is in an enviable situation - the views from it are tremendous. Wine tasting is available and the wine itself excellent and reasonably priced. Recommended .

Pretty chateau in the middle of the countryside. They have a selection of white wines that are full of flavour, I went there especially for the wine tasting.

Most wonderful self-guided tour teaching you about all the techniques necessary to grow the beautiful Vines in this beautiful wine region!! Beyond The Learning and the immersion into a vinyards cycle of growth & harvest, is the fabulous Castle itself, not to be missed!! This fabulous 1600th century Castle is so well preserved. The View is unequaled- which is overlooking the entire Valley of the Perigord region of Dordogne. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful throughout.

Well worth a visit! Stunning fairy tale of a chateau with lovely vinyard to explore. Entry allows you access to a very informative and interesting self-guided tour through the history of wine making and the life of a vineyard. You can then visit the fascinating chateau. Here the story of the family who owned the chateau at the time of the French Revolution is revealed. You walk through 3 rooms, which at first may look sparse, but they actually represent 3 different pivotal events in the lives of the family. There are sound tracks playing in each room where the different characters are portrayed discussing and debating their views around the challenges facing the monarchy and the possible changes that any new republic may bring. Most is in French; if your French is rusty, with a bit of patience and with the help of Google translate, the information on the walls explains it well. After the chateau you can explore the grounds and have lunch in the reasonably priced cafe. You can then finish your visit with a wine tasting session and you even get to take your glass home with you. A good few hours out but best early in the morning if it’s going to be hot as not much shade. Would recommend.
