Café de France

Gorgeous cafe in the very lovely antiques area of Grenoble. At breakfast, the owners encourage you to get pastries from the bakery next door and enjoy them here with a coffee. Lunch is made here and the menu is all classic French stuff, and it's all up on a blackboard which is seemingly updated everyday. Perfect.

A fantastic experience! We were looking for lunch on our anniversary and happened on the Cafe de France without planning. Atmosphere was lovely; full of happy people genuinely enjoying good food and conversation.

A short but varied menu written on the board (5 choices of main, including a vegetarian option). The food was really excellent. Traditional-seeming dishes were made unconventional with interesting details, without being pretentious. Everything was beautifully cooked and well presented.

We were also served with politeness and consideration. I was particularly impressed by the way the waiter habitually knelt down to take orders; such a great way to communicate better. He also took the time to explain dishes properly and was very patient with my limited French.

The price was exactly as quoted on the menu plus the standard (included) service charge.

No children’s dishes available but my child enjoyed the fish plat du jour, and some of my delicious duck breast.

For me a treat, not everyday! Main courses for 3, plus desserts and drinks came to just over €100 including service

Charming café with a traditional decor and excellent service. There is plenty of choice from hot drinks and croissants in the morning, to full lunches from the daily menu at noon, or cocktails in the evening. There are limited options of things to eat for breakfast, but there is a pastry next door that you can quickly swing by to grab something to eat back at the café. Highly recommended.

Très belle découverte, belle ambiance, les plats sont faits avec des produits frais et succulents. L'équipe est très sympathique également. Nous y avons passé un très bon moment et nous y reviendrons 👍

Miam miam une très bonne brasserie au coeur de Grenoble.
Une assiette de magret de canard aux chanterelles accompagné d'un gratin dauphinois, une assiette chaleureuse gourmande, des produits frais. Service rapide et organisé, une bonne carte c'est impeccable.

Cuisine de qualité dans un des plus vieux café de Grenoble. La déco n’a pas changé depuis les années 20 les serveurs non plus. Ne pas hésiter pour les plats du jours qui sont toujours excellents.

J'aime beaucoup cet endroit pour venir prendre un café le matin. Le personnel est très sympa. Le café a un charme tout particulier que j'adore.
