Auberge Saint Jean

This restaurant is absolutely fabulous and we were surprised it is not a Michelin star. Had the 5 course tasting menu and one dish was better than the next. The service was impeccable supervised by the chef’s wife. Met the chef and he was very gracious. Overall a wonderful experience and worth the expense which was very reasonable considering the meal was up there, with the best restaurants of the world. A must if you’re in the area.

Auoberge Saint Jean should never lack for clientele, given their idyllic location alongside a peaceful river, delightful rooms, and superb food. Everything is beautiful, including the hostess. Each plate presentation is a piece of art. The staff was perfect, and amenable for our late lunch. The paired wines were a excellent match. It is a must visit sensation. Go there.

Wonderful experience. We had the tasting menu and everything was amazing! The service was outstanding, the wine for sure was just perfect! The restaurant was recommended by the owners of the luxurious bed and breakfasts we stayed, which we also loved! If you are in the Saint-Émilion area, this is a must try!

Superb restaurant in a small village overlooking the Dordogne river. It has a Michelin star (which it thoroughly deserves in my humble opinion) so there is nothing more to say about the quality of the food or service. There are no photos attached to this review as that detracts from the opportunity to be amazed by the chef's outstanding work.
Update - 2 years and another excellent meal later there's nothing I need to change except to add that I can now say the Auberge Saint Jean consistently excellent!

Went here for lunch with a friend and her two daughters (7 & 10). We read the reviews before we left and were a little concerned about one of the reviews re children and the menu. We arrived 15 minutes early (before they were open) and were happily greeted by the hostess (who I believe was perhaps the owner). We were offered to take our seats immediately if we wanted to...we did. They offered 2 meal choices for the girls.. they took the chicken which they absolutely loved....and I did too as it was a lot for them to eat. I had the shrimp and ravioli starter with the pork chop main. Both of these were very tasty. Unfortunately I did not have room for dessert. The restaurant has a beautiful view overlooking the Dordogne River. I’m glad I did not listen to the negative reviews as I really enjoyed my meal and the setting and the staff.

Exceptional meal, service, and view. Everything started off on an excellent note with the delicious amuse bouches. Enjoyed our 5 course tasting menu, notably the pigeon. We walked here from our hotel at the Chateau de Courtebotte and couldn’t be happier that this lovely small town has such amazing lodging and dining establishments. Would recommend and visit again!

Truly amazing food, we had the 5 course and with the generous amuse bouche and petit fours it felt like 7. Delicious and creative dishes, great service and relaxed atmosphere. Superb.

We have been going to Auberge St Jean for the five years that we have had a house in France. Always excellent, and an innovative, superb menu. Although justifiable with a Michelin star it is still very good value. We always try to think of an excuse to visit!

Great place for big groups - we recently dined with 13 people and this did not bother the staff at all. We were seated a large table with stunning views on the water. The restaurant is well prepared and we had already submitted our menu requests a week before making the night calm and relaxing. Thank you for an amazing culinary experience! I would recommend opting for the chef special - squid ink langoustine ravioli,
scented langoustine bisque and Thai red radish.

Such a beautiful and lovely place. The Menü was so awesome we can not get enough. So creative and full of ideas. The Service was so special and friendly. Just can recommend this Restaurant.

Always amazing! One of my favorite restaurants in the WORLD! The owners are great, the waiter is great, the food is great, the wine is great.

Michelin star well deserved. Every dish was on point. No option on the lunch menu, but at only 30 eur for starter, main and dessert it was fantastic!
