For our first night in Bayeux, we had dinner reservations at La Rapière. Although we made them several months in advance, we weren't the group with the earliest made reservations that night. We arrived early but as there is only one seating, that wasn't a problem. Linda met us and called us by name.

La Rapière is down a small alley. There's even a real wine cellar.

Our 3 course meal with wine was104€ with the best dessert in France - chocolate profiterole with ice cream and salted caramel.

Put it on your list for Bayeux and reserve early. Even the locals said it was the best restaurant in Bayeux.

It was an absolute pleasure to have dinner in this restaurant. We had the menu with sea bass and chicken as main. As a starter I had the oysters which were tremendous and my girlfriend had the gazpacho. Overall it was from starter until desert a great experience with a lovely service.

Great French dinner! From the moment of the first “bonjour” we felt welcome. The staff spoke English and were so accommodating. Advice: make a reservation a day before and plan for two hours. Review the menu before hand so that you can see how it works and research items that you aren’t familiar with. They only take parties smaller than 6 or less.

A most wonderful dining experience. My husband and I enjoyed an amazing dinner at this restaurant. Service was excellent, casual yet precise. The space was intimate and warm and added to the charming old world atmosphere. The food is sublime.

There are two menus both with wonderful offerings-you can’t go wrong with either.
I had the foie gras-excellent, melts in your mouth. The bass was cooked to perfection and our wine parings were superb. We left happy and content. I highly recommend La Rapiere if you are anywhere near Bayeux. It is a dinner we will not soon forget.

*I highly recommend trying the Trou Normand, a wonderful intermission/transition between courses consisting of house made pomme sorbet and Calvados.

La Rapière was our top dining experience this trip. I made a late reservation for 9PM and we were seated on time. We had Linda, a co-owner as our server this evening. We both chose the up market menu at 52.50 euro. My wife ordered the foie gras, fillet of beef, and the creme brulee. My choice was the langoustines, sea bass and a cheese plate. The dinner also includes little included tasters along the way. Invest at least 2 hours to dine comfortably.

We had fun interacting with Linda and my wife taught her the Baltimore way to ask for rare beef. She likes it "just after the cow says "Moo" ". This translated perfectly to Linda's husband who cooked her streak to perfection. We have been to Bayeux over 10 times over the years and I'm very please to have finally dined here. Can't wait until next time!

It's probably one of the best French meals we had in our 8 days in France! The service was excellent! All of the dishes were homemade and done to perfection! I wish we had restaurants like this in Atlanta, Georgia, or someplace close🤩
I found this restaurant by looking through Michelin Guide. This was not rated with a star, but it was highly recommended. We have been to other michelin star restaurants that were not as cozy and unique as this.
The homemade terrine of foie gras was exceptional. So good, I tried to buy some, but they only sell it at Christmas time. My next course was Scallops with an artichoke mouse... Oh, my stars! Lastly, I had this incredible dessert pictured below with chocolate ice cream and a puff that was light and so good I could have licked my plate!
Hubby does not eat fish. So he went with the chicken entree and ate everything on the plate, even though he does not like all veggies!
Our Calvados tasting had 6, 12, and 20-year Calvados from different regions in Normandy
This was a beautiful way to end a fantastic dinner! Thank you, Linda and Simon, for making the evening so special that we closed down the restaurant🤩💕

We checked the on line bookings every night and scored a 630 reservation on our last night. This was the best meal for our entire trip

Best meal we had on our entire trip to Paris, Bayeaux, and Strasbourg! I will be dreaming of this food for a long time. My dessert, poached pear with white chocolate ganache and caramel sauce, was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my entire life! They were very accommodating to my vegetarian and gluten free diet as well. Make a reservation and go!

This was the best meal that my wife and I have ever had in our lives, hands-down. We visited in February 2023. Months later, I can still vividly remember each dish. Every bite was loaded with flavor and each course built upon the last. The pace and service were outstanding. Overall a truly extraordinary experience. This was our very first dinner in France and I’m not sure how we will ever be able to top this. Bravo

My family’s first meal in France after a long drive from the airport. From starters to dessert, the entire journey was a gastronomical delight.

We had a wonderful evening at La Rapière! My wife has a gluten allergy and they made her feel welcome and safe in ordering. On top of that their food was well thought out, delicious, and I left enjoying every bite. Definitely recommend!!

Charming and quiet setting. Staff is clever and accommodating despite being inundated by travelers who stroll up without a reservation ahead of time. You need to make a reservation if you plan on eating here! Delicious set menus.

Excellent service, dishes bursting with flavor, highly recommended

Located in the “Restaurant Row” in Bayeux (a pedestrian district with many restaurants with old fashioned store front look). You can miss this one since it is through an arch and about 20 feet into a small alley. The stone work of the original old building has been keep on the outside as well as the inside. The original celling beams and woodwork give a slight rustic feel but some walls a new with a slate blue/gray that makes it clean new also. Lighting uses small accent lights to make tables have a cozy feel. The decorations follow the theme of the name focusing on the musketeers and swords. As do the names of the menus.

The wait staff was great. Attentive, timely and fully able to answer any questions of wine and menu items. Speaking of wines, chalk boards on the walls listed suggested or featured wines of the night. We had a 2019 Le Pla Du Roy Domain Benazeth which was full, rich blend of syrah and ganache.

We had the prix fixe menu Le Menu Athos, Porthos et Aramis (the musketeer theme). The Duck Foie gras terrine came with toasts of home-made Bread with dried fruits(cheeries, apple). A rich, buttery pate with herbs. The toasts paired well with the pate

Wild Gambas in Thaï Stock with Vegetables was six medium to large prawns in a full flavored Thai broth with lemon grass, galangal, fish sauce and Thai chili (not much, just a kiss of heat). Tender crisp julienne of carrot and daikon with chiffonade of thai basil. A dish bursting with flavor.

For the mains, a Simmental beef tenderloin was medium rare, tender, juicy with a good char on the outside with an herbaceous crust. The sauce was more than au jus, more like a gravy with spices and herbs that somewhat reminded of sauerbraten gravy. Mashed potatoes, pickled red onions, carrots and roasted beets completed the sides.

Poached sea bass was tender but not falling apart. A risotto of wheatberries (not rice) was a nice variation, a little chew to it, and a little light on seasoning. White asparagus with hollandaise was a rich counterpoint to the risotto.

Desserts were amazing. A creamy cheesecake was topped with a fresh made apple sauce beside a scoop of salted butter toffee ice cream in a pool of Calvados custard. Wow! Equally decadent was a dome of dark chocolate mousse on a pistachio/ almond cookie covered in dark chocolate ganache and chilled to a cracking crust. Oh my! If you want this you must let the waiter know when you place your entrée order so the kitchen has time to prepare it. Do it!

You must make reservations to get in here. One of the best places we ate in a three-week France trip.

Took my 13 year old daughter and it was great! She’s a vegetarian and doesn’t like a lot of cheeses, but the restaurant was able to accommodate her without any hassle. I ordered off the set menu…everything was wonderful!!!

This restaurant is wonderful.  The food was delicious and the service was impeccable.  It was one of our best meals during our three-week trip in France. Make sure you make a reservation. It was fully booked during the mid-week in April when we were there.

If you are in Bayeux do not miss this place. Absolutely amazing experience. Down a short alley to the door. Cute inside. They served us a couple of different amuse bouche, a cream cheese bite and a cracker with crabmeat and wasabi. We both had the lobster ravioli as an appetizer. It was out of this world. For main courses we both had steak very tasty but a bit on the salty side. For dessert I had a strawberry and cream filled pastry while my wife had a chocolate mousse crunch bar with caramel.
