La Charrue

I was getting married in the local area so emailed Carol and Dave to organise a dinner for 17 of us and a wedding breakfast for the grooms party. I am so glad I did! Firstly, what a lovely couple that make you feel so welcome! The full English breakfast is perfection and went down a treat with the grooms party and the set menu option for our dinner was so easy to organise and the food was outstanding! The price in my opinion, is great value for money and I would be happy to pay more for the quality of food we received. Carol and Dave are outstanding hosts with a beautiful place to relax, eat and stay. They regularly have live music nights, and if you are lucky enough to be nearby you have to visit La Charrue! We will be back 100% and thank you both for being so accommodating and welcoming during our visits.

We were welcomed by Dave and Carol with open arms to La Charrue along with their beautiful family including their daughters and dogs who just add to the homely atmosphere of the venue! 🙏🏼

Please don’t be put off by reviews from years ago before Dave and carol took the business over… we have seen first hand the amount of effort they put in to ensuring people have the best experience they possibly can.. from seeing them prepare and cook all the food fresh to all of the family chipping in to serve the dinners to hungry guests… you really can’t fault a true family run business in such a stunning location 🙌🏼

Also saw an amazing Boy George and 80’s show whilst we were staying which was a bonus 😉.. Dave and carol are always putting on international tribute acts and other local French bands etc so they can cater to everyone’s taste.

All in all.. if your scrolling through these reviews and debating wether to book or not.. JUST DO IT! You won’t regret it!

We stayed for 3 nights and had a lovely time here. It was our second time staying at La Charrue after an amazing stay last year and we will hopefully be back next year.

Dave and Carol are wonderful hosts ensuring our every need was met.
We were also lucky enough to experience one of their 'feature' night which included live music and a fish, chips and mushy peas which were amazing.

Such a lovely, relaxing stay. Utterly charming..as are the hosts Carol and Dave. Nothing is too much trouble. My second year and looking forward to next year!! Highly recommended. The food is DELICIOUS 😋

Dave and Carol were lovely, nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was perfect. The cottagers were all clean and were self contained. There was an outdoor kitchen too. We enjoyed cooking as a family. The pool was perfect for us all. It was heated although the weather was beautiful and plenty warm enough. They have an onsite restaurant. The food was really good. They also have tribute nights which we thoroughly enjoyed. It was all reasonably priced. Food was included in the ticket price. We highly recommend this gite complex for families but also if you just wanted a place to relax and explore the area.

Had a fab time here , rooms were clean , food was great and Dave and Carol were the perfect hosts ! Saw the Adele tribute here last night and she was incredible! Will definitely be back next year !

We stopped off here for lunch on a long drive from the south of France. Dave and Carol were so welcoming to us, our young daughter and dog. We were able to relax and recharge with a lovely lunch before setting off again. We would recommend it as a great place to break your journey.

Staying here with friends in our caravans for the second year running. Pauline and Clive are wonderful hosts - very welcoming. There are various music events held during the summer all with meals which are varied and beautifully presented. There are gites, bed and breakfast and camping pitches available. They also have a good pool area, and wonderful showers! You can even stop off for just a quick meal and a drink whilst driving through. This year they have added mini golf which is great fun!

A great place to stay, which for us in our caravan. Plenty to do, food and music events available.
We have now visited this site 3 times over three years, and each time have received a really friendly welcome. There is lots to do in the facility with several beautiful and/or historic villages nearby.

Amazing family run set up situated in the countryside surrounding brentome. Can't sing the praises enough of dave and Carroll. Such hospitable, down to earth and kind people. Will definitely go back camping

We have been coming here for a few years now and each time bring friends here that appreciate a small friendly camping area that feels like home from home with a very warm welcome from Pauline and Clive. The reason I have posted this time as I have never done so before is because of the negative comments made by an individual. It is interesting to note that he makes negative comments about his stay at la Charrue during July of this year, what I find difficult to understand is that I have been here since the end of June with the said friends and have talked to every camper on our small sight which would have been less than a dozen people and he was not one of them so I can only presume he hasn't been here. There are about six placements and we have a beautiful shower block with two showers and toilets a very nice swimming pool with loungers and chairs in the shade too. We often eat here as the food is lovely and reasonable and during the summer there is some really great music evenings. This is the forth year we have been here and the six friends we came with this time also came last year so there must be something that draws us back ...

Always a warm welcome, excellent location, food is all home cooked. For anyone camping, toilets and showers are really clean, and plenty of hot water.

Pauline and Clive have worked hard here!...and it shows!..everyone welcome....wonderful atmosphere......wonderful food and entertainment.....just read one review where he said.....plastic people .....etc..everybody entitled to their own opinion but...it takes a plastic person to not appreciate this place........he must have been to a different place to everybody else....

Been twice now for Sunday lunch and can't rate it high enough, even the 40 min drive is well worth it, Pauline and Clive have got excellent service down to a T, everything is fresh and homemade, nothing is too much trouble, can't wait to go back

Staying here with family and I have just had an amazing roast beef lunch and lemon cheesecake to die for. Well done Pauline, Clive and the team!!
