Great place for wine people. Eric gives great advice on Champagne. The food on little pots is fresh tasty and good value. Nice place to find off the beaten tracks champagne! Highly recommend.

Nice family run store and restaurant in Ay. This is a perfect place to stop for a nice lunch when you're in the area. All champagnes and food are locally sourced. A lunch special includes a glass of champagne, freshly baked authentic french food cooked in a jar and a waffle for dessert . Food was fresh and very good.

With so many Champagne Houses closed during lunch and weekends, we found this little gem while walking our dog. We did a Champagne tasting and enjoyed the great atmosphere. Our dog was welcomed, and probably the cleanest toilet in France. Highly recommended!

Visited here every day when we stayed in Aÿ. Friendly and knowledgable staff. Great opportunity to try different champagnes by the glass - and learn about the different varieties. We had coffee here in the morning and also lunch and afternoon drinks. The staff helped us pick out several bottles to bring back to the UK.

The tables outside facing the square also add to the beautiful ambience. A true find

Great little shop. Selections of champagne and accompaniments. Weather was fantastic during our visit. We ordered a still white wine made in the Champagne region along with 4 meats, jambon de Reims, terrine de chapon, rillette de canard, coeur de boudin blanc. They came in little jars with a basket of baguette. The lids were also provided but we managed to eat all of it. Highly recommend eating and or shopping here.

Having stayed the weekend at the fantastic Les Epicuriens B&B in Epernay (run by husband & wife team Laure & Eric) we drove just a few minutes to the pretty village of Ay.
In Ay, Eric has a very attractive shop offering “ champagne tastings” 🥂 from small champagne houses, some gourmet organic and GF food, plus delicious coffee .
You can sit inside or outside (weather permitting) and Eric will be pleased to share his extensive knowledge of the various champagne 🍾 varieties and the grapes 🍇 that are used.
We purchased some amazing “small house” bottles of champagne 🍾
Don’t miss out - make sure that you go and see Eric at La Frigousse before you leave Epernay - you won’t be disappointed!
