Rhododendron Wood — National Trust Reviews

Came here in the spring time as as the name suggests it's a wonderful place to see Rhododendrons as well as some magnificent trees. The garden is on a slope with rough hard paths. There are numbers on the map that relate to certain interesting plants and trees. It's about a mile to walk around the main parrs of the garden. There are no toilets here. the closest would be at the house when it's open.

What a wonderful place! It’s like being in heaven, especially from the spring to the summer. The flowers are absolutely amazing and the place is very well taken care of, even if you never seam to see anyone working. There are long or short walk in the whole area, so there is no chance of getting bored. The carpark is free for members of the National Trust, but they ask for a donation of £3.50 to everyone else. There is an informal donation column, where you can drop your money. They also ask for a donation of £1 for each leaflet you take and it really sounds like a bit much!

Good walks by Leith Hill (well signed posted as well) with some amazing views on a clear day. Also a good walk to the nearby Plough Inn for lunch or a coffee at the local shop. Dog friendly walks but some tough inclines at times.

Lovely place but time your visit! Important to go between April and June otherwise you'll miss out on the best of the flowers.
It's well kept by the National Trust and the parking is close by. It's also a good location to visit Leith Hill Tower and Leith Hill Place which are both within walking distance.
However do bring appropriate footwear as it's very hilly and can be muddy in places.

Vast area of rhododendron and trees. Great hiking trails clearly marked. I wish I was here in the spring when it was in bloom.

A beautiful spot to see the flowers and not too busy. The car park is also convenient for both Leith Hill Place and for taking a circular walk up to the top of Leith Hill and back again.
