South Wales Aviation Museum Reviews

Absolutely so impressed with the aviation museum. Firstly if you are planning on visiting then I suggest giving plenty of time for travel as the winding, tight roads are a mission and scary lol. Single lanes with tall hedges !
More about the experience. Being able to sit in some of the jets and enter the planes and explore them is very for all ages. The tour guides are excellent and very friendly.
Seeing the size of these things is awesome!
Wrap up warm during the colder times..
Finding the entrance to the building is tricky so plan ahead.
Hope this help you plan a safe trip!
Enjoy 😃

Fantastic day out.
The staff and exhibits are interesting. You and the kids can climb into some of the cockpits of the aircraft. It's an up close and personal experience with no real roped-off areas.
Nice little cafe for a bit to eat or just a cuppa.
Great for kids, old and young.

A great place for the whole family. You can touch everything, get into some planes and feel like a real pilot. Very nice service people. There is also a café on site where you can have something to drink and eat.

Simply no better place in S Wales to indulge your passion for aeroplanes. Volunteer staff are so knowledgeable and generous with their time!
At £10, and invest the time, it's a great half day!

This is a top class aviation Museum that's supported by top class volunteers, we were lucky enough to have lengthy detailed conversations by two very knowledgeable and interestingly experienced volunteers named Martin (AKA spanners) and Gerald (AKA the policeman), If you want to get the best out of your vist make sure you find these two treasures to make your visit complete. Highly recommended even if you only have a smidge of interest in aviation or are generally interesting in engineering.

So much to see here, there were so many planes and bits to see squeezed into a relatively small hangar but was worth it. There was the opportunity to climb into the pilots seats of a few of the planes and so many interactive bits for kids and adults to enjoy. Very interesting and all the volunteers were friendly, polite and full of knowledge

My husband and I spent all day in this lovely, well-kept museum.
The team of volunteers were fantastic, very knowledgeable, friendly, cheerful group of people. Just listening to them, we could tell how proud they all are of the museum. In fact, we were the last to leave. They were about to lock up.
The cafe was spotlessly clean, and the food was delicious. All the displays were clear, and we loved the paintings on the walls and windows. We will be back 10/10

Been living nearby for almost 3 years but had never visited. It was a great discovery, there’s plenty to learn and photograph, great for kids as well as many of the planes are accessible. Will certainly visit again.

First visit to South Wales Aviation Museum and what a lovely place to visit. Lots of aircraft in the hanger and outside you can view and some have steps up to the cockpit and you can actually make arrangements with the staff to sit in them and get the feel of what a pilot feels in one. A lovely cafe is up the spiral staircase and if you can't climb the stairway there are a few tables down stairs that you can bring drinks and food down to. Ladies toilets are very clean and are lovely to use. If you have mobility issues many planes are displayed on the ground floor and you can be pushed around between them. If you are a plane enthusiast or just interested in aviation this museum is for you. This place is ideal for all ages I saw many children getting really interested in the planes with their families. There is also a flight simulator that you can try for 15 minutes for £5.00.

My family went today, perhaps in Easter holiday, my daughter played the egg hunt. The staff very nice and helpful. Lot of planes and military things displayed in the museum, and we can get into plane and to be a pilot. A nice place recommended to visit.

Absolutely amazing volunteer run Museum with a large array of different aircraft. Something for everyone, especially love that you can sit in some impressive aircraft. Educational and fun, with lots of things for the kids to do, also a very lovely cafe on site.

I had a great experience here. I can't explain how nice it was, especially with all the volunteers. The volunteers were very knowledgeable and very keen to show you around. The kids had a great time and loved it all the more being able to get in and touch some of the aircraft. There was such a great selection of aircraft to see and explore, with much more planned in the future. There is a nice play area next to the cafe, kept the kids entertained whilst waiting for food. The cafe was great value and good food, for the price.
I wish SWAM all the best and can't wait to return in the near future. I can't recommend it enough, please give it a go, and if you need anymore persuading under 17's go free.

A great place for a family visit. Even children my age, which I'm not saying, will love sitting in the cockpits.

One of the best museums out there, maybe small but is still amazing. The beat part is you can get up close and personal and even sit in some of the cockpits. The cafe's food is absolutely amazing you just can't beat there all day breakfast.
I would recommend to anyone.

It's an amazing place full of planes on helicopters. They let you sit in the cockpits! I went around screaming "get in the chopper!". We loved the knowledgeable staff and variety of planes. One time, I imagined that I was flying off to war😁

If you love aircraft, and history, this place is for you. The staff are knowledgeable, having worked on many of the aircraft there.

Having left the Raf in 1978, it was a great way to be reminded of my past service. Loved it so much. I would volunteer to help you but ime 85 in November I'll visit again soon.

We had a great afternoon out here. I love a museum where you can interact with the exhibits and so very much enjoyed being able to climb into the cockpits and fuselages of the planes and helicopters. The staff were an absolute delight as well. We were greeted warmly and staff around the exhibits were very knowledgeable - willing to answer questions and bring the stories behind the exhibits to life. As well as the aircraft, there is a diorama of a war time airfield, exhibitions with model aircraft and wartime artefacts, science puzzles to try to solve, a cafe and a gift shop. There is plenty of free parking. Definitely recommend a visit.

What a fab place to visit! I took my father and my 5yr old and we all really enjoyed it. My son would've stayed there all day! Lots of aircrafts to look around and sit in.
Entry prices are very cheap and the staff were lovely.
It was a bit chilly inside so I'd suggest a jacket. There is a cafe there but we didn't use it as we had planned to go for good afterwards.
Toilets are available and are well maintained.
We did have trouble finding it initially as Google Maps took us to a different location (opposite side of the road)
