You must visit this pub when in the area. Marianne is a wonderful host and welcomes you as if you're going into her own home. There's nothing she won't do for you and sits and chats with you, by the roaring fire. The food is amazing too. All home cooked and very generous portions. She cooks an Iranian dish, which is well worth trying. I would highly recommend this wonderful place

My sons had dropped in for a pint last year and spoke highly of the place and the landlady Marian. Finally got to visit and stay here - we weren’t disappointed!
Roaring fire, home made steak pie, friendly locals, clean comfortable room, and Marian the landlady…. What a lovely person!
A great night - thank you!

Had the entire pub to ourselves on a Tuesday evening which is indicative of how quiet the area is midweek, and not the pub itself. Served by a charming lady who couldn't have been more friendly!
Great food, all made to order. Menu is relatively small but OK and at a reasonable price. Well worth a visit!

This fine lady cooks up some superb food. I recommend the Iranian dishes and the good old bread and butter pudding.
We had a great night.

A lovely lady was running this place all on her own when we ate here. The service was lovely and everything was cooked to order. When we ate here, some dishes were out of stock, so be prepared to make multiple decisions. Don't let this keep you from coming here though. Would definitely recommend!

We stopped here for some lunch on a rainy Sunday afternoon. I failed to read the sign outside saying food served from 5:30pm but Marian the Landlady was already expecting a group of people who had prearranged a meal and kindly welcomed us to order from the menu. It was miserable outside so she lit a fire. We ordered an Iranian lamb dish made with lime and lemon which was very tasty and just what was needed. Marian was so welcoming and accommoding and the food was lovely. Would definitely recommend!

What an amazing place! A lovely old Welsh pub in the village of Sarn Meyllteryn on the Llyn Peninsula run by an amazing landlady - the unforgettable Marian. We went there for a family meal yesterday evening, having decided to avoid the crowds at the usual tourist haunts in Abersoch and Llanbedrog. Apart from two other customers we were the only ones there - and we sat out on the balcony under the setting sun for a superb family meal and drinks. Marian is a very good cook and produces her own food. I had an Iranian dish which is one of her specials. The others had lasagne and curry and chicken nuggets and for starters we had prawn cocktail, breaded garlic mushrooms and spring rolls. All home-made and very good. The only other two customers were two young chaps who were working on a nearby construction site who we got chatting to and were great company. Marian is a real character and this place is a gem which I cannot believe I have overlooked in the past despite decades of coming to the Llyn Peninsula! I strongly recommend this place: avoid the crowds, come a small way off the beaten track and eat great home-cooked food served up by a landlady with a real passion for what she does. We will be back!

What a warm and welcoming pub this is. Marian gave us the most lovely welcome and couldn’t do enough for us during our visit. The home cooked food was out of this world, I had a Brie and Cranberry Wanton starter followed by lasagne, absolutely perfect after a hard day competing in the local ROC Wales triathlon. I enjoyed a few Guinnesses (which were very good) in the bar after eating and then a few more with the locals who made us feel at home around the fire. I can’t recommend this place highly enough, thank you Marian, you doing an amazing job and I will definitely be back next time I’m in the area. Chris (the shorter one🤣).

Myself and a friend of mine were staying locally as were in Abersoch for The ROC triathlon. We spent our evening in this lovely, traditional pub. Marian, the landlady made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The food was amazing and home cooked. I had the Brie and Cranberry Wantons and the Guiness and Mushroom pie..absolutely delicious. We were made to feel very welcome by the regulars also and I will definitely be back in the future. Thank you Marian, tonight was a great way to end really hard race day. Keep doing what you're doing becuase it's perfect 😊

All the best Mike (the tall one🤣)

Caught out late with the family and a baby, passed by on the way to our holiday cottage so decided to ask if they did take away, Marion the owner advised that they didn’t but then proceeded to whip up enough food for eight of us and to find enough containers and dishes so that we could take the food back. Went back the next night for a couple of drinks and to enjoy some wonderful music. Marion is a super human and wonderful person. It was great to get to know her and to experience her lovely pub. If we are ever in the area again then paying a visit will be one of the first things we do. Thank you!

Phoned the pub to see if they were dog friendly ...yes they are , so the 2 of us plus dog went there for a meal. Best pint of Guinness outside of Ireland ( and only £4.60 a pint!) and fantastic food. I had a Persian dish
( can't recall the name ) which was amazing and hubby had the Guinness steak and mushroom pie. The landlady served the drinks , cooked our meals , and then sat and chatted with us about the history of the building. Fascinating ! Will definitely return.

Guinness steak and mushroom pie was the best I've had with really good fresh chips.
The fish soup wasn't bad as a starter.
The welcome was warm, the landlady even had a fire going to combat the Welsh June weather!

I ate here on 3 consecutive evenings this week during a short break in the village. A real find for an old(ish) codger like me. A real old fashioned pub, no music, no slot machines and no noisy customers. Just an open fire and a kind hearted and interesting to talk to landlady who also cooks the food to order. Very reasonable prices and good sized portions (very important for walkers). You'd go a long way to find as good a place as this. Thank you Marion for your warm welcome and attentiveness.

A warm and friendly welcome from the landlady. We had the rib eye steak which was cooked perfectly. The food and drinks where very reasonably priced. There was no need to book which was great. It’s a shame we hadn’t found this gem sooner. We will definitely visit again.
We would definitely recommend a visit if your in the area !!!!!

The best pub in North Wales! The hospitality shown to us by Marion was second to none, we enjoyed beautiful home cooked food, real Irish Guinness, and the best conversation you could ask for. We will most definitely be coming back again! Thank you so much!!
