Visited for a quiet sit down of real ale and cider. Great choice in an interesting and eclectic pub. Not so much gin choice as hoped for but made up with charm and a cosy room divided pub as if you were sitting in someone’s home. Be prepared for a range of taxidermy!

Totally unique pub, could walk around here for ages looking at all the random things around, from taxidermy baboons to an old aga stove! Great selection of drink and good bar staff as well. No place like it.

Now this is a pub you must add to your list of places when visiting Winchester. It has friendly staff, good beer and is so quaint, kids and adults will love it. They have an outside seating area and are dog friendly. There is so much to do and see, we called in for a pint but spent the afternoon in this amazing place.

The selection of craft ales is great, the seats are comfy and the staff really friendly. It's definitely worth seeking out this pub when you're in Winchester.

Such a wild place to be ! Every corner of this pub is covered in crazy creative work, definitely worth the visit. They served a really nice dark stout - recommend getting a pint of it. Everything about this pub says come back. Excellent service from the team which adds to the incredible ambiance.
DEFINITELY VISIT THE BLACK BOY WHEN YOU GO TO WINCHESTER

I have been dropping in to the Black Boy for years. It doesn't change - an excellent pub, oozing with character, and staffed by friendly people. If you haven't been, then you need to. It's like being transported into another world, with artefacts which will amaze you (if you don't like stuffed animals it may not be your thing!). There are numerous rooms with various antiquities - if you're there for a first date you won't be short of things to talk about.
This pub is, in my humble opinion, a national treasure. If you're anywhere near Winchester, go there!
PS the ales are great too 😋

One of my favorite spots in Winchester. Atmosphere and style of the place is great. Loved that scary painting🙈 Unfortunately food was not available the last time we went there due to pandemic. But we’ve tried some main dishes and they were very very good👌🏻

Great pub, unique. The boss has filled the place with all sorts of artefacts which make it a treasure trove of interest. Beer is great, much larger than it appears from the outside. Staff fabulous, a must place to visit.

Cracking beer. Lovely staff. So much eye candy about the place. If I had a pub, this would be it. Well, either this or the admiral benbow in Penzance.
Lovely people here too. Open for a chat with strangers. A happy place with fun stuff and nice pints

Brilliant pub with great choice of Ales, and plenty of seats inside and out ( under cover if you prefer). The bar areas are full of eclectic paraphernalia: look out for the Wild Hog under the football table ; he nips your toes! 😅😅

Packed full of quirky and eclectic antiques and objet d art. V good selection of ales and other drinks, with excellent service.

What a great, weird, quirky pub. Staff are great. So much to see here, you will be taking plenty of photos. Will be back next time we're in Winchester.

What a great find! Filled to the rafters (literally) with odd bits and bobs, this place is worth a visit for the decor alone. But there is a decent selection of good ales and good pub grub to make it worth your while staying for a bit - the friendly staff will also make you feel welcome!

One of Winchester's best pubs. Great atmosphere. Decent beer selection. There's tables and sofas inside which are good if you want a quiet relaxed spot for a meeting.
