Running Horse Pub & Dining

Stayed here twice before and after a cycle tour. Friendly welcome, nice place, food was good in evening and at breakfast, real ale available as well. First room was fine, looked into little courtyard with a couple of chairs outside. 2nd room was the accessible one which was extremely dark inside (even with the lights on!)
Rooms well equipped, nice having a coffee machine available.
They have a 12.5% service charge , which we thought was a bit high - 10% should be normal maximum.
Overall a good stay

Had Sunday lunch there, prompt service, lovely, helpful & happy staff. The food was amazing, served on warm plates, piping hot, and so tasty. We were in, seated, had drinks and 2 courses, paid and out in under an hour and a half, not rushed by the staff at all, just really good service, thank you. We will definitely be returning.

The best hotel I have been this holy day. Room perfect with a perfect shower walk-in. And the restaurant service so kind. Menu so much different choose, eating with kids makes it good that way. The pocetta is sublime! Sfeer is relaxed and with laughter. Yes the best for me and my family

A group of 6, all shared a couple of baked camembert to start. The had roast dinners all were very good quality.
Service was attentive with being in your face, which was good.
Only slight thing was a the Yorkshire were over done for my personal taste, as the tops were crunchy and dry. But I just didn't wat that bit, and it didn't detract from me giving them 5 stars.

A big thank you to everyone who looked after us tonight, especially to the chefs, Dot and Jack. You guys have been brilliant from the moment I stepped through the door. I was greeted and seated by a friendly face, then ordered drinks promptly. It didn’t feel rushed at all or as though I was forgotten about - I am a happy customer because of the level of care from the waiter. 😊 He took our order and went through it to ensure we were happy with the drinks/food, just double-checking all was as it should be. We did see multiple other staff members with smiles on their faces assisting other customers, giving them the same standard as our waiter which was brilliant to see. The whole team matched energy, all working together. It was extremely busy but the level of professionalism and kindness was at top game. The food is always a 10/10 and worth travelling 30 miles for. I will definitely be recommending The Running Horse to friends and family who want an evening away. Beautiful views with the sun setting over the hill, able to see from being seated inside the pub is just a bonus. Great location, great service and great food.

Lovely friendly service from start to finish. Our meals were lovely, I particularly enjoyed the roast beef which came with a great selection of veg. We were celebrating a friends birthday and the atmosphere of the pub was perfect throughout the entire evening. Our only slight criticism was that the menu for mains was maybe a little limited. However we did thoroughly enjoy our meals.

Amongst other nice things to eat, the chocolate brownie is everything you would expect from a perfect one!

Haven't been here for ages; when my son was small it was a great place to go to let a mob of three year olds run around the garden. (In retrospect, sorry to everyone else at the time!) This is no longer the case as the garden has gone, but there is still a good mix of indoor and outdoor space, and the food is just as good as it ever was.

What a perfect last minute find. A beautiful set up , rooms are finished to a high standard and very comfortable. Eat in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and both meals were delicious. All the staff are very friendly , a special mention to Dot and Tigger. The Icing on the cake for me was the horse theme, as a horse mad person I loved all the equine detail , absolutely loved it and have already told all my horsey friends about the place .

Lovely helpful staff, the room is large, clean, nicely decorated and well-appointed, with a small private outside seating area adjoining a larger communal outside drinking and dining area which would be lovely in the summer. We had dinner in the pub which was good. Overall a very comfortable stay and very good value for money. We would happily come back again.

Friendly service, good solid pub food, short distance from Winchester and easy parking 👍 Also dog friendly, not that we have a dog, but there were several in the restaurant. Didn't stay in the hotel so no rating for the rooms.

Stopped by this lovely pub just outside of Winchester. We all had a roast which was one of the best we have ever had. Service was great too. Will be back very soon.

Sian looked after us. We were two ladies who were originally going to Lainston House for lunch, but were deeply disappointed with it, so we debunked to The Running Horse. What a wise decision we made! Sian had amazing customer service skills, nothing was too much trouble, she went that extra mile to ensure we had the best time. We ordered a delicious Rose wine and the Seafood Platter. All were excellent. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much to Dot and her brilliant team at The Running Horse Pub, Littleton, for hosting the funeral wake. We had a large gathering of family and friends at the pub and the layout worked really well .The buffet, which the chefs at The Running Horse provided, was delicious and plentiful. Dot and her team were very approachable, kind and helpful and ensured that the afternoon ran smoothly. I am so grateful for all their help. We have also had lots of positive feedback from our guests. I look forward to visiting your pub again soon :-)

Lovely welcoming fire on, friendly staff and comfy private areas to sit. Everything was newly refurbished and relaxing. Sadly didn’t have time for food but it sounded delicious. Coffee was great. Clean toilets. What a great spot! We will be back.

Comfortable dog friendly restaurant. Tasty food, cooked well and above normal pub grub.

Over night stay, lovely warm welcome, lovely room, great food & service large free carpark secluded from road so motorcycles were not on full show to potential naughty people.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Great staff. Delicious food. Plentiful portions. Highly recommended.
