First time there for me. I wasn't disappointed at all. You know its going to be good when people are queueing through the door at 1pm on a Saturday afternoon. The specials menu looked amazing value for money. A huge portion for the money. All freshly cooked. Really friendly staff who talked me through what I could have. Tasted as good as it looked. Struggled to finish it all. I Will definitely return and have no problem recommending this chip shop. A good chippy is hard to find. And this is a good traditional chippy.

Woman (Danielle I think) who served me next to the door was amazing after serving a rude bloke she was very professional a credit to Summer Lane Chippy, food amazing as usual

Super service. Nice to see freshly caught UK coast cod and UK grown potatoes with no GM produce. Our Emergency Service on duty personnel are catered for as priority if queuing, which is how it should be.
I'm vegan so was actually buying for family so can't comment further, but good ethics on fresh local produce.

The food here was extremely tasty, and the portions plentiful.
They've put covid measures in place, including perspex screens and limited numbers inside at any one time.
I ended up queuing outside as it was so popular. I would therefore highly recommend that you book in advance, as they have a separate serving area for collections.

The one crisis about this place is they appeared to do little to encourage people to wear face coverings. Despite being in the highest tier, the majority of people going into the shop didn't wear masks - very disappointing. If they'd attempted to address this then they would have received 5 stars.

I had a battered fish cake with chips and mushy peas. It was delicious and reasonably priced. Good service.

A day out in Wombwell with lovely fish n chips

A superb fish and chip shop, lovely tasting food, whatever you order. Always fresh and very clean. Queueing is the norm now with what's going on in the world, all marked out accordingly with only a few people allowed in at a time. Well worth a visit if you haven't already been. You can order ahead & pick up at your designated time slot. Reasonably priced & friendly staff.

Best chippy around fantastic polite staff and there chips curry big sausage and spam fritters are to die for if i had money i wud be there 6 days a week but any spare money im straight there gorgeous im workin on em all to get a delivery service tho 😋 😉 😜 i wud never go any where else ive allways enjoyed my usual if i could get a tab tho till pay day that would be great im a really good payer when i av debts 😆 🤣 but seriously i love the place and deffinaltly recommend it 100% spot on thankyou to all staff for putti n up wi me 3or4 times a week and for food obviously top quality all round service thankyou ❤

Visited just after lockdown 2 started & queued for 10 minutes outside as it was really busy.

Really worth the wait & will be back.
