I liked this hotel. It was super clean, really warm with piping hot water and friendly staff. I get that people say it’s run down but to me it was full of character and charm. It was kind of nice that it wasn’t so perfect you had to give a security deposit! We were in a little cottage on the courtyard, independent with its own parking. Easy access to the town. Fab views. The hotel had a funky cafe style area for breakfast which was served quickly and piping hot. Sue was lovely, really helpful and friendly we so enjoyed chatting with her. I hope they enhance the character of this charming hotel and don’t just mainstream it so it looks like every other when they refurb. Don’t expect perfection you won’t be disappointed but you will be charmed!

Absolutely lovely place. We stayed in 'Coach House' No2. A very relaxing stay. Very quiet.
Food and service was fantastic in the restaurant. The Brecon Castle Hotel is highly recommended. We will be back.
Thank you to all the staff for a lovely time.

We stayed for the weekend just to get away the hotel is really nice lots of character and the staff were all extremely friendly and could not do enough for you 🙃 the breakfast was fabulous and delicous and you could taste that it was locally sourced.the room was really clean and the bed was so comfortable there is a notice in each room to say that the hotel will going to get a refurbishment within the next year and there were areas you could see what's needed but we had a lovely stay anyway and will definitely come back again.

We had a lovely stay here despite the horrible weather, rooms were spacious and the bed comfortable, there was a lovely roll top bath too, bar prices good although in our personal opinion the food a little pricey, however, the breakfast was lovely and plentiful, staff were very friendly and also made our fur baby very welcome, would definitely recommend and would definitely stay here again next time we’re in the area, Thank you The Brecon Castle Hotel for our lovely stay. Unfortunately the garden area was closed at the time of our visit

We stayed here for one night, and had a lovely time! The staff were without exception, all so friendly and helpful. We arrived and the receptionist booked us a table for dinner - which was amazing. We had roast beef & fish/chips and the food was outstanding, puddings were also really tasty. Exactly the same for breakfast, fresh fruit, yoghurts, toast, cereals, fruit juices and an amazing cooked breakfast. The quality of the produce was so obvious, it was super. Breakfast staff were so friendly and responsive, thoroughly enjoyed it. The room was a little tired, but it was clean and tidy and absolutely functional, the bed was really comfy.

Fantastic value for money and we used it as a base to walk Pen Y Fan with our dogs. Amazing location, great for the dogs and super for us.

The oldest hotel in Wales; very quirky as parts of an old castle are incorporated into the architecture.

A gorgeous afternoon spent having lunch and drinks on the patio with beautiful views from the elevated location.

Food was fresh and delicious and well priced. Chips were perfect! (Sorry: I have a chip thing - must be hot, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Limp and pale is just a sad, depressed potato piece)

I enjoyed the fishcakes, my teen daughter had the fish and chips, teen son chose the hamburger, my husband the Pea, Spinach & Crumbled Feta Risotto. Mains priced between £16-£18.

The lady who served us was so friendly and lovely! Gave us information on interesting places to visit in Wales and the service was excellent. So sorry I didn't get her name.

We only ate lunch so cannot comment on the rooms but the decor is very old fashioned, rustic and full of character which; (for us) is adorable as opposed to everything new, shiny, bright and boring.

Many guests were enjoying drinks on the terrace.

An absolute gem for a sunny afternoon and a great base to explore from.

An old building with lots of character. Location is perfect for the town. Outstanding service, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend or stay again.

Arrived late and met by an excellent host, who was really helpful and friendly.
The kitchen was closed, but he asked the chef if he would mind staying on.
Nice food menu, covering a wide range of food tastes. Great choice of beers and local ales - the Butty Bach was very good
Waitress was really good and gave great efficient service, and the food arrived quickly and was excellent.
The room was quirky, clean and finished to a high standard.
Shame we're leaving too early for the complimentary breakfast

We loved our stay in Castle Hotel Brecon. The room / cottage was clean, comfortable and spacious. I loved that they provided all the necessary toiletries and the kitchen was equipped with supplies. All the staff from reception to restaurant were very welcoming and friendly. Shout out to Sue who’s been very charming and accommodating to us every morning during breakfast. I would highly recommend this hotel. Excellent stay and customer service.

So my partner and I didn't stay over but we had a fantastic meal here on Wednesday, the starters and mains were delicious and the waitress was lovely (I'm sorry I don't remember your name!) and the view, just amazing.
Definitely planning on coming back in the future and potentially looking at staying in the hotel for a long weekend in the summer.
One thing would be nice to have the heating back as the trip to the ladies was rather chilly!

Good old fashioned style hotel. A bit jaded in parts but full of character and charm. Staff helpful, rooms good size and standard, breakfast wonderful. Location is excellent, overlooking the old town, near old priory and Cathedral, and its own old castle in the garden. Nothing not to like and will come back again.

We were really happy with this hotel. We ended up with a cottage room which we didn't realise so had a lovely little 2 storey apartment with bedroom and bathroom upstairs and a little kitchen and lounge downstairs.

Breakfast was lovely, staff were all super friendly and helpful.

Location smack bang in the town area so you can just walk round the corner to head straight into the local shops or over to the promenade / cannal for lovely scenic walks. The area itself was super quiet and peaceful so although being right by the town there was no noise disturbance at all so wonderful quiet uninterrupted sleep as well

Perfect trip
