Went past this pub today with a friend and we both said it had been a long time since we had been in there so turned around and went in. Glad we did. Received a very warm and friendly welcome from staff and customers. Decor inside was very nice and it had a great ambience too. I had homemade vegan burger and fries and my mate had meaty sandwich, both meals went down well. I plan to go back very soon for a Sunday roast as they can accommodate vegans. xx

This is definitely a pub to visit! Fantastic beers, great atmosphere, lovely staff who coped with the numbers & difficulties with a smile and great walking/running countryside! Thanks Chris, we'll be back!

Lovely little pub. Dog and walker friendly. The menu is simple but the food is excellent, staff are friendly and helpful. They also have doggy icecream which went down a treat with our two dogs.
Well worth a stop in and perfect for lunch mid-walk.

Very friendly, good ales, wonderful roast. Not too gentrified, but just the right mix of locals, walkers, fishermen and tourists. A terrific pub.

I went there on Thursday with a fishing party, I ordered a rare beef sandwich, it was amazing!! Best beef sandwich I have ever had.
Really good value.
It came with a substantial potato salad and mixed salad.
Washed down with a pint of their IPA which was also excellent.
I understand from some of my mates that the Ham Egg & chips was 1st class too!

Looks lovely from the outside, welcoming, friendly and handsome. The walk along monarch way takes you a bit away. But the presence of the pub is tangible.

Excellent country pub: great coffee, good choice of real ales and a perfect menu. Friendly staff - there is nothing not to like . It's also in an ideal location for walkers and cyclists along the Test Valley.

My son and I went in for lunch today. We were walking the Clarendon way and needed a hearty lunch. We were after vegan food and there was nothing on the menu to suit us. But the chef was superb, he made us a delicious roasted vegetable dish, in a stuffed courgette (nearly marrow) with perfect roast potatoes and red onions. It was delicious, good value and the Palmer's IPA was delicious too. - Highly recommended

5 stars without question, we found this place by chance and were not sure what to expect. We were there on a Sunday about 14:30 and it was pretty quiet. However our food arrived in good time and it was exceptional! A good portion size, packed full of flavour, homemade yorkies and gravy, high quality ingredients. Overall a great experience that we won't forget, and we would live to come back if ever travelling in the area again, might even travel specifically we liked it that much

Proper pub! My wife and I discovered it by chance while cycling by the Test. The best trout and crab sandwiches we have had for as long as we can remember. Very quick service and Good beer served by a proper old school landlord. (That’s a compliment!)
Thoroughly recommend.

Down to earth authentic country pub with great Sunday lunch, friendly customers with their dogs, muddy feet from their walk
and an intimate atmosphere. Will definitely add it to my list of places to go back to.

You might have to wait a little bit for your Sunday roast as the pub is very popular - but that's no hardship with the friendly staff looking after you, a roaring fire, and great tasting drinks on tap. The wait is worthwhile for a really generous well cooked meal

Excellent. Worth a stop even if just for a pint. They've constructed a decently shaded beer garden and offer a nice quiet spot to relax and socialise while still allowing you to safely social distance during the pandemic. Don't even get me started on their food portions, they're huge! Guaranteed to fill you up good and the food tastes great! Their location is also stunning and offers a lot of walking or cycling routes along Test Way nearby. Their service is also exemplary. Will definitely be going back again. Sadly I don't have photos, was too busy enjoying myself to be honest.

An Honest country pub, no frills or spills.
What you see is what you get and I haven't heard the locals complaining. Pooch friendly, plenty of outside tables. Parking over the road. Cyclists, Dog Walkers, just passing through. Everyone is welcome.

Just the best you could ever hope for - warm friendly landlord, chef and staff - and the BEST kept beer in the area. Never disappoints !
