Plas Menai National Outdoor Centre

Went for a sailing course in October, the center was great. Professional/knowledgeable staff, nice food in the canteen and on the boat. If you can sail in the menai straits you'll be well set up for sailing anywhere else.

My two grandsons had a wonderful experience paddle boarding. From the minute we walked in reception we could not have been more welcomed. The safety training was brilliant and the staff were amazing. A gang of kids all strangers went out for the afternoon to learn to paddle board. Had a whale of a time and all came back like best friends. It was wonderful to see them all tired but with happy smiling faces and fun tales to tell. Thank you so much for this exciting experience. Would recommend to anyone.

I was doing the Menai dragons for about 4-5 years. The water sport they do are really good they include paddleboarding, kayaking, sailing, and windsurfing. They also do an adventure week. There, you go for 7 days all day and do 2 activities every day. The land sports are climbing, high ropes, low ropes, and mountain biking. They also do power boating courses they are good, though you have to be 8 to do level 1 and 16 to do the level 2. They also offer a jet ski course. Good for kids ages 8+.

The house is very interesting and features mainly on the flamboyant owner who was well liked in the community and very generous. However his spending was out of control and he went bust having to sell everything in the house. There is information on all this to read in the house. The grounds are huge and allow dogs on leads (not allowed in the house) there is lovely views across the river and plenty of walking trails to use. There is a shop and cafe and free car parking. Well worth a visit

Sailing course was excellent, well worth the course fee, 3 meals a day 5 days of sailing the Welsh coast and Anglesey. The instructor was knowledable, friendly and the crew worked well together. Caint recommend it enough 👌

Fabulous sailing training centre. Great organisation and inspirational instructors. My 10 year old really enjoyed his course. The Menai is also a great place to learn to sail.

Speed boat level 2. Very well run course with 1 instructor covering 2 students. Most of time spent out on the water gaining experience and practicing techniques.

Great time sea kayaking for our first time. Harry our instructor was very professional. What a set up definitely a return visit to do some sailing.

Amazing place for outdoor adventures on land and water, once you are finished with the activities you can relax in the cafe with excellent food and drink

Spent 5 days on learn to sail course with the residential package. I would recommend this venue and course as a way to emerse yourself in the subject, it felt more intensive than a weekly course at the local sailing club might be and was the kick start I needed. The training staff were all very experienced, patient and non-judgemental - calmly controlling a sailing dinghy with 3 newbies in it with 25mph gusts and not capsizing was in hindsight a masterclass (thanks Peter). Around 20% of the time was theory slotted in when the wind wasn't great. The wind all week was poor, the staff constantly juggled the itinerary and worked hard to find the best wind to help us make the most of it. The site staff were all friendly and welcoming, the food is canteen style, very welcome after a day on the water. The centre is in a beautiful area, what's not to like!

Great watersport faculties and the staff are incredibly patient- not to mention highly qualified and especially great with beginners - highly recommend!!

Plas Menai windsurfing

After coming back to windsurfing 5 years ago I had been struggling to get things right despite watching numerous u tube videos, I decided to do a 2 day intermediate course at Plas Menai.
What a fantastic experience, from booking the course ,ALL the staff were just superb with advice and ease of booking etc whilst being helpful and welcoming.
I can’t believe how much I learnt in just two days, from setting up equipment to all the tips on stance etc etc.
I simply cannot praise our instructor, Ollie , enough. Super friendly and a great teacher. Following a quick assessment of student’s to judge our levels he then proceeded to pin point the main areas for improvement, by demonstrating and observing then offering advice and tips. I felt I improved well beyond my expectations over the weekend, which in my case proves you can “ teach an old dog new tricks”. I also felt no matter what level of skill you have Ollie would have been able to improve you.
My only regret is that I didn’t do this course years ago, for the moment I will practice what I have learned and no doubt be back in the future to build on this.
A massive thanks to Ollie and all the staff at Plas Menai, you are all a credit to our National Centre.

Excellent sailing courses in beautiful scenery. Very good, experienced and patient instructors.

Brilliant paddle boarding session with very patient instructors.

2 day powerboat course. Excellent course - friendly, knowledgeable instructors. The Centre is an excellent facility - it's not a hotel but a great Centre for adventure training. Food was plentiful and our "en suite" room clean and recently decorated. It was great mixing with youngsters, families, couples and individuals all there to learn and have fun.

The quality of the teaching and equipment / boat was excellent. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was better than i had expected for an out doors centre - clean and comfortable, if a bit basic.

The food was more quantity over quality but we never went hungry and there were no complaints.
