Great service from the ladies who worked here!

The hummus and flatbread, as well as the squid, were SO GOOD!

The 2 for £15 cocktails were also so delicious and definitely try the Choc Orange Espresso Martini!!

Exceptional service despite the high volume of visitors. Got a table the second time we went in, got served promptly (despite my first two choices not being available) and the food (fish & chips / chicken, ham & leek pie) was delicious. Kester and Harry are enthusiastic and friendly - being attentive without trying to rush us out.

A great pub, did a fantastic Christmas meal for our group, very efficient and accommodating staff, delicious food. I had trout and a few roasted veg bits. Great atmosphere, busy but in a good way! Would recommend.

Such a lovely Christmassy place to have lunch, couldn’t want for more. The staff are what the experience a cut above, always brilliant - we come every year at this time and we’ve never had a bad experience. To achieve that consistency in hospitality is pretty rare! Also very reasonably priced.

Great for lunch and good for a drink and dinner after we had spent day wandering Winchester. Steak, ale and mushroom pie was lovely. Meze platter for two was great but a bit short as a main. Worth booking if weekend as lots of tables were booked from 6.30 onwards.

The music is wonderful, there are great beer options AND there are free sanitary products in the toilets. Any pub ever will instantly go up in my opinion as soon as they provide free sanitary options but they also provide OPTIONS. I love it.

Food and service were very good and would come again - but standout was the home made tomato soup which came with bread and a generous amount of butter to enjoy (not the usual ‘one pat’ wrapped in foil, which is never enough). The name of the pub is an amazing story: William Walker the dedicated, brave diver who saved Winchester cathedral. We felt the decor could have told his story better, not just reflect it. By the way - even though he got both - would you rather have a knighthood or have a pub named after you? I’m choosing pub!!

Having had an abhorrent experience at the Wykeham Arms recently, was reticent about visiting another Fullers pub in town.

Mitch and the team at the William Walker were simply outstanding - attentive, polite, accommodating and innovative. Short staffed and with a fryer busted in the kitchen limiting some menu options, the exceptional service was matched by the food.

Having tried a few venues in town without joy due to not having a booking, Mitch (the Assistant Manager who was also our server) ensured we were seated and served quickly, in spite of the pub being very busy.

The entire team were knowledgeable and extraordinarily friendly. Would not hesitate to commend these staff - what a brilliant team. The comparison between the Wykeham Arms and the William Walker was chalk and cheese; the team at the William Walker are absolute class. Thoroughly recommend!!

Six of us had a meal here on Saturday, although the pub was very busy we were shown to the room upstairs which was very pleasant, the service and food were 1st class could not fault also very good value for money, I would have no hesitation in recommending the William Walker definitely one of the best if not the best in Winchester.

Great meal, great night, the venue was packed, I had the cottage pie special, and my partner had the Christmas turkey roast, they were both fantastic dishes, the staff were very friendly and made me feel at home.
