Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Really enjoyable. We have booked again straight away to stay again. Loved it. Room was really lovely big and done with so much taste. Really lovely little touches like Curlywurley instead of biscuits. Food was so good in fact fabulous. Atmosphere was lovely and really popular place to go to say it’s a small village. Make it a must.

Returning customer. We have now stayed at the Blackhorse Inn several times and have thoroughly enjoyed every visit. With fabulous service from staff who are very welcoming and make you feel at home. The food is 5 *, we’ve not had a bad meal yet…and don’t expect too! The staff will go to all lengths to ensure your stay is best. Because of the service we have received our last visit was a Christmas party where they catered for 18 guests. Very dog friendly.

Booked in for 1 night on Christmas day.
Lovely friendly welcome on arrival and shown to our room.
Christmas lunch was fantastic, 3 courses of gorgeous food, the service was excellent, we were asked several times if everything was ok. Breakfast the next day was equally lovely.
Will definitely return.

Stayed in campervan in the car park with electric hookup. Very safe and quiet. Payed by having food in the pub. Everything was great! Food delicious and service first class. Excellent ales and wine. Will definitely return !

We had a wonderful stay, the room was huge, decorated beautifully and even had some thoughtful additional touches. Breakfast was amazing, food was just delicious and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. We had dinner on the first evening which was fantastic too, I would definitely recommend for a trip away or even a meal out.

Hotel was beautiful, all staff were super friendly and helpful, bar and restaurant was cosy with a great atmosphere, breakfast was totally fabulous. Service was really great and friendly. Couldn't fault it.
Room was so cosy and they are all named as a racing horse. Love the curly wurly chocolate touch in the rooms.
Breakfast starts at 8.15am but you can order coffee and tea and have some toast or cereal or juice. Evening is full of locals and it's just has a lovely touch to it. Enough spaces for cars at the back.

Wow wow wow
Ended up here completely by accident and am so glad.
Food was lovely, staff were brilliant and a chat with the owner (which he initiated because he personally wanted to know how our visit had been) convinced us that we will certainly be going back.
Can't comment on the rooms because we didn't see them but I am certain they were just as good as the rest of the place, in fact there is a notice which is an open invite to go and see the rooms if you want, clearly they are not scared you won't be impressed.

Only stayed one night wished we would have stayed longer. Staff very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
Room was very clean with superb decor. Nice addition to have access to a laundry room which had a washer/dryer and a large fridge.
Food was amazing.
Will definitely go back.

I was out for the afternoon with my Mum whom I don't see often enough, she suggested the Black Horse for lunch as she knew it from delivering there.

I'm glad she did.

As we turned into the drive towards the car park she noted the hollow metal sculpture of the horse rampant which I didn't spot until we left.

Having parked up in the large car park we walked in through the gravelled beer garden where I was going to greet the two characters seated there but suddenly realised that they were mannequins!

As we entered the building we were greeted warmly and seated in what seemed to be the coolest spot on a steamy hot day.

We both ordered the burgers, when they came, served on a board they were perfectly cooked and delightfully delicious, the chips I believe were cooked in a beef tallow blend and the equally delicious relish lifted the flavour still further.

When it came to our dessert we plumped for the ganache which is incredibly dense but so richly delicious that it could actually do to be smaller, the kirsch cherries and the sprigs of lemongrass cut through the incredible chocolatelyness to again lift the amazing dessert from the sublime to ridiculously heavenly.

Their service is excellent and the staff friendly.

150/100 definitely going to go back, there is a great menu to work my way through. By no means the cheapest but the food is worth every penny!!

P.S As Mum lives locally we didn't need to try the rooms but the place is beautifully presented and well equipped for a wonderful weekend (or week day) stay.

We. Have had meals at the Black Horse, previously which were exceptionally good.We decided to stay for two nights 31/10/23 -2/11/23 for our respective birthdays. As usual we received a warm friendly welcome from Steve and the team. Our Room was a very high standard, with a door leading to the garden(unfortunately the weather meant that we couldnt sit out(next visit in the summer.Again meals were of a high standard and the full Yorkshire breakfast was amazing.
Definitely recommend the Black Horse, and we will return

Such a wonderful place to stay for a few days. The room was stunning and so comfortable, especially welcoming for us and our dog. The food we ate was spectacular both for breakfast and dinner. It was so wonderful to see the restaurant busy on midweek nights, but the quality and service still being as wonderful as when I last visited over 10 years ago!

We had a lovely overnight stay in our camper here. Onsite parking in the back of the inn with an electrical hook up. Staying is free, you just have to eat at the Inn.

Dinner was fabulous in taste and presentation. The breakfast was ok. This is the only thing I would say they could improve a bit (freshly made waffles would be preferable).

More info for campers:
- Electricity is free
- all night and day bathroom access available
- on request fresh water available
- 5min off the A1; the streets leading here are small but good manageable
- we stayed here with a 8m camper without any problems
