Good food in the pub, very friendly staff and dog friendly. Spend the night in our motorhome on the parking which was ok but the tired is a bit noisy. Initially there was no place but after 19.00 most visitors left.

We stopped for lunch on the way up to Spittal. It is a short drive off the A1 and, well, worth the slight detour. The service was lovely, and we had great chicken and bacon baguettes.

Pleasant atmosphere lovely staff excellent service, food worth the price. Lamb rump and also the fish we dine to perfection.

Very good food and spacious restaurant and bar with a conservatory and outside seating. Lovely helpful pleasant staff too. A good stop-off for a meal or just a break from the nearby A1.

Visited here before and after going to Catterick Races. The staff were brilliant and the food was amazing, all homemade and fresh. We will definitely be returning when in the area.

Excellent dog friendly pub , food was first class as was the service from lovely staff and they even brought the dogs a sausage each , highly recommended 👌

Have eaten here in a number of occasions and it never fails to impress, you be left wondering if there is a Michelin star chef out back!!!
The food is ambrosial, always cooked to perfection and served with a smile. The staff are courteous and polite with the service quick and at a high standard.
Would highly recommend anybody to visit.

We stayed here from Wednesday till today so we could go to the races. What a beautiful place, the staff were amazing, the lovely redhead behind the bar was so hospitable she couldn't do enough for us. The food was amazing, the rooms are lovely and cozy. Can't wait to go back again. Thank you for everything, Nicola and Christian, room 2.

The food was amazing and value your money , my daughter a vegetarian and the options was amazing and her food looked and tasted amazing too.

Lovely, friendy pub and the food was amazing. We also stayed overnight in our Motorhome, in the car park.

Lovely pub lunch. Food was great and the service was first class!

Room was large, warm, and more than adequate. Comfortable bed. Hot shower, though a noisy water pump (?) came every time the WC was used. The hotel was right on the Coast to Coast path. VERY convenient for C2C walkers.
Best part was the young lady who checked us in and acted as our server. Remarkably helpful!

Me and my mum stayed here Thursday as we were watching my brother pass out from the army. Luckily the pub quiz was on so we joined for the evening, the host was brilliant and there was a great atmosphere.

I forgot to put our dietary requirements (vegan) for breakfast and the lovely lady sent someone out to pick up fruit and oat milk for us (we didn’t even ask). Was a really lovely touch.

Room was perfect, great for the money. Would definitely stay again.

We visited for a couple of nice drinks after walking our dog and recieved a warm welcome including the dog who was made a fuss of.
The day after I phoned up to enquire about dining in with our dog and a table in the bar area was reserved for us and again we were warmly welcomed on arrival. The service was 1st class all night and all the staff super friendly. Our food was delicious, starters and main course - had a really lovely evening
