An incredible structure, I walked up through the old miners tunnel in the hillside then headed over the tops to reach the dam, great views, there isn't a marked path though, I then walked back down the road.

Get here early! Stunning place that makes you feel very small. Incredible sound waves bouncing across the reservoir which make for a magical experience, too. Well worth the very easy and smooth path to get up to. You can’t take your car up here but there’s a small car park at the bottom.

You CANNOT drive up and park at the dam. You can at Cwmorthin Waterfall carpark or on the side road, both for FREE. The walk up the dam, on the tarmac road, took about 1h with 5 kids (13 to 5 years old) fantastic spot on a beautiful day, scenic view all around. We stopped at the dam but you can cross it (we saw people go over the fence) and continue hiking to the tip of the surrounding mountains.
We stayed about 3h in total, so worth the hike!

Our cyclist friends went up the top dam ,and we went around the bottom Reservoir . Absolutely lovely with dogs didn't run in to anyone every 5 mins , and although it not clear where the official route is , it was lovely walk around the entire lake. With a surprises round each turn .

Such a great walk, up Cwmorthyn over the Bwlch, then across the tops through old quarry workings and past explorable caves (take a hard hat and wellies and rope, then down over the top if the reservoir dam

A magical place, cycling nirvana.

Beautiful hairpins, traffic-free and views to die for. The percent UK climb and one that you'll keep coming back for.

It's like being in Lord of the rings for most most part. Only there's a dam at the top of the road and a decent cafe at the bottom

Went today with my partner and 5y old son, car park is free ,on the bottom, GPS shows the way, but only about 20 parking places. Beautiful scenery ,my son walked up and down without difficulties. We stopped by the ruins to have some snacks. The bridge on the top was closed for pedestrians so we turned around and walked back the same way. Altogether around 3.5h walking. Peaceful and wonderful place for views!

A nice ride up to the dam. The gate at the bottom was locked but it's easy enough to lift the bike over. Steep towards the end but easy enough with the right gears.
