Wonderful place that references an old and sad history. Built in 1831 this connects the new and third courts of St. John's College. The bridge stretches out over the River Cam. Widely loved the bridge has been a favourite of dignitaries and Monarchs including Queen Victoria. The bridge itself is built from stone in the Gothic revival style and was designed by Henry Hutchinson who completed it just before his death. It is interesting to note that there was actually an earlier bridge that this replaced. The name references the Bridge of Sighs in Venice.

A must-see in Cambridge. Lovely covered arched stone bridge part of St John's College Cambridge. Connects the inner courts of the College to New Court. The bridge with its 5 stone arched windows presents a perfect balance. Best seen by punt from the river or from the bridge by St John's College.

Punting in Cambridge is one of our main itinerary. The tourist guide are amazing while doing the punting they are narrating the history of the places that we pass through. It is very informative and a fascinating experience also. It is affordable and you will see the great views .

This is a sight worth seeing, one of the defining views of Cambridge. Now, there's one problem, it's not viewable from the public road. You have 2 choices if you want to see it with your own eyes. Firstly, you can take a punt, but this gives a much briefer view. Secondly, you can pay St. John's College £10 each (free for Cambridge residents). Some people enter through other entrances, apparently! Obviously, that is something I cannot advocate, obviously 😄.The picture that isn't of the bridge is taken from inside the bridge.

There is a service at 6.30 (Evensong) that allows you to enter St. John’s College even if it’s closed to visitors. Once you’re in, go through the courts until you reach the river Cam.

Members-only bridge for college's own staff and students. But, tourists' trespassing happens often.

St John's is one of the most beautiful of the Cambridge colleges. Idyllic location, either side of the river Cam. The bridge is Sighs if it's crowning glory. Absolutely stunning.

Named for its Venetian counterpart, and equally lovely from land or from the Cam. Accessible through St. John's college.
