We have just spent a fabulous day at the Halloween Event at Rockingham Castle. We took two of our grandchildren who live in Northamptonshire and we have all had a truly memorable day.
Thank you to each and every witch, wizard, skeleton, cat, and everyone else who made our day so wonderful. The castle was decorated so well and with such expertise. We had a lovely lunch in the tea rooms, thank you to everyone there. It was a perfect day which we can highly recommend and the lovely weather today helped too. We are definitely going to revisit in the summer as it's such a beautiful place with amazing views from the grounds. Thank you also to the family in ownership/residence for sharing your beautiful home.

I found this place to be most interesting and I certainly am pleased that I have visited
I particularly enjoyed the complementary guided walk around the exterior of the castle. The guide gave an interesting talk about the history of the castle and pointed out some aspects of the building.
I also found the guides in the castle to be most informative and happy to answer questions .
There are so many interesting articles to view in the castle including a rather battered chair that was a favourite of Charles Dickens when he stayed there
I also enjoyed walking around the extensive grounds that includes both wild and more formal areas.

Having driven past, talked about it, and seen it in the media, today, after many, many years, we visited! And we were so pleased we did.
Rockingham Castle is a special gem that everyone should visit at least once, even if it's only to see Charles Dicken's favourite leather chair. The guides are full of information and freely talk continuously, giving snippets of historical information about the castle.
The gardens, grounds, and small church are equally impressive, along with the spectacular views.

Myself and son visited Rockingham (Aug bank holiday) for the teddy bear picnic, view the castle and the gardens. It is fascinating to walk through periodic rooms, taking in the smells, colours and viewing the beautiful furniture however, I was disappointed to find that no rooms upstairs were open. Making the walk round the castle very short.
We did get to try on the helmets and gloves in the great hall, walk around the grounds, view ST Leonards Church and the ice House.
Goldilocks and the three bears were very interactive and engaging with the children, even played some games.
Throughout the holidays the days to visit were limited to only a Tuesday and Sunday (incl Bank Holiday Monday's).
We enjoyed our visit overall.

We had a beautiful day out at Rockingham Castle. We did the guided tour of the garden, Lesley was a lovely friendly guide, very informative about the history of the castle and Gardens.
There is a nice tea room there, with seats outside that have an amazing panoramic view.
The inside of the castle also gave lots of information about the history.
Well worth the trip and I will definitely come back to see the gardens in different seasons.

A truly lovely place to visit. I didn't go inside as I had the dog but the walks and gardens were brilliant. I would definitely come back on a sunny day to walk the dog.

Amazing history going back almost 1000 years. 2 owners from new. House was decked out as it would have been at Christmas 1849. We had the tour with the butler. Good experience, other staff members dressed in period and in character. Booking necessary but well worth it, good value, farmers also amazing.

A lovely place to visit. The house and gardens are a delight.
The guided tour of the garden with the history of the house and its guests should not be missed.

Had a lovely drive out to Rockingham Castle from Market Harborough in lease than 30 minutes. Castle and Gardens for £11.50. Senior rate. Very interesting and knowledgeable guides. Beautiful views from the gardens. Well worth a visit. Extra bonus of Civil War day. Re-enactment of Pike and musket fighting. I'm now Civil War ready. Walked down to the Church and ice house. Lovely little church. Tombs to family members from the castle inside.

This was a grand day out. Its absolutely saturated in history and was wonderful to look around. You can't take photos apart from in the Great Hall so be prepared not to moan when they politely ask you to refrain from photography. There are guides in some of the rooms who were fabulous in telling you about things they were also brilliant with kiddies. The grounds are beautiful and well kept with strategic seating. When inside the building, be prepared to be on your feet a lot. Obviously some of the furniture is centuries old do you mustn't sit on it. Parking is quite a way from the entrance so be prepared to walk down then up a hill on your way back. There are some disabled parking spaces near to the entrance though. The staff are lovely and couldn't be more friendly and helpful. A great place to visit.

Booked the guided Christmas tour last weekend.Went with family that included 2 12 year olds and it was amazing,we were taken around by the Governess, she was brilliant and engaged with everyone.
Got there earlier than our booking time, parked up in the overflow car park as the weather wasn't good for the grass parking. Was a bonus as a mini bus was laid on to ferry people to the actual castle, which was being driven by the owners.while waiting we had hot chocolate and kept warm. All the staff were friendly and helpful.Would highly recommend.

We did the Victorian Christmas Tour last 5th Dec 2021 and would highly recommend it. The staff running the tour were dressed up in Victorian outfits and the Castle was lovely decorated like how it was in 1800s. Robert, guised as the footman was a wonderful guide and his sense of humour made the tour very interesting. Suggest to arrive an hour earlier to have enough time to enjoy the beautiful and well maintained gardens as well as the scenic views of the estate. There is a big Christmas tent set-up close to the entrance with tables and chairs that serves mulled wine, hot drinks, cakes and light bites as well as some activities for children.

Super place to visit, steeped in history. I recommend going on one of the free outside tours. The guide was excellent, knowledgeable of all things Rockingham. Highly recommended.

Went yesterday for their Victorian Christmas tour. Very interesting tour with an informative guide in the guise of the children’s governess. House was beautifully set out as it would have been on Christmas Eve 1949.
We also had lunch there which was excellent. A most enjoyable visit.

Nice place to visit, interesting items on display and a nice place to learn a thing or two about English history.
The rooms available for visit are only a few, the rest are closed for private use. The price of the ticket when I visited was 12.50, which for what you get to see is quite a lot, you can opt to visit just the gardens for 7.50, but I would recommend to pay the extra 5 and get Castle access as well. The place is quite big, so make sure you go there there early to have time to visit all of it. When I visited (Bank Holiday) they opened at 13:00, o don't know of that is the normal opening hour or just for the bank holiday.

A fascinating building inside and out, with great history and beautiful gardens.
Like many other heritage buildings, Rockingham has guides in many of the rooms. We prefer this to a guided tour, as you can go at your own pace.
On our last visit we chatted with he guides for ages and learned a lot of new information about Rockingham!
There's a tea room with covered seating outdoors, and toilet facilities. The wild garden and formal gardens are well worth a walk around, there are some lovely views over the valley.
If there's a downside it's that Rockingham Castle isn't open as much as some other sites, but as it's still used as a family home that's understandable!
The 'Victorian Christmas' tour at Rockingham is very good.
