Incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. Such a beautiful house with a very interesting tour and garden with a variety of sculptures. I was just a little disappointed that no photography was allowed, but not enough to stop me going again. I shall definitely return in the Spring.

Fabulous visit, excellent tour, most informative. The house is beautiful outside in the sculpture garden and in, with some spectacular art, Picasso among it. What fascinating stories about Lee Miller and Roland Penrose. Tea and snacks available, but take a picnic and sit in the beautiful garden. They even have blankets. Very nice staff all round, you can also do a personal tour with a relative of the family.

Wonderful experience of meeting Anthony Penrose at his home and seeing Lee Millers photography exhibition Love Letters Egypt.

Had a lovely time exploring the gallery’s and gardens. Missed out on the house tour, but very keen to return again.
Incredibly charming to meet Anthony Penrose and talk over his and his family’s life and works.

Spent some time here enjoying the gallery + gardens, for house access I would suggest booking is essential, but still spent several hours looking round. Excellent coffee + cake- a very light lunch is also offered, but there is a village café co-located- albeit shut on Sunday.

A fascinating look at the lives of Lee Miller & Roland Penrose, and their Sussex home.
Visiting the house is by guided tour only: the typical one is 50 mins of the downstairs only. But a few times a year, Anthony Penrose (their son) does a 3 hour tour of the whole house.
You can wander around the garden too, where there are flower and vegetable beds and sculptures.
There are exhibitions that change twice yearly, as well as visiting exhibitions.
The small café serves drinks and salads for lunch. Over the other side of the complex is the village store, which serves sandwiches and toasties as well as drinks. So there are plenty of options.
On site parking is free.
Book in advance.

Only went to the sculpture park and galleries. Both were excellent and worth a visit. Plenty of free parking. Tiny tea shop bit nice cakes! Nice people.

A wonderful experience all round! The guide in the house was really knowledgeable and very happy to answer questions. The art work is STUNNING. The surrealist sculpture in the garden is fascinating. Don't miss a visit to Nic Ancasters little gallery too, for pieces made with wood from a Hastings and Rye fishing boat. Her cormorants are particularly effective. Never have I wished I had more money as much as I did on this visit with so much art for sale!

Truly special artists’ house. Loved sitting in the same kitchen where Lee Miller served Picasso ‘Muddles Green Chicken’. Beautiful garden and really well-informed guide for the house tour.

Great attraction, and interesting and passionate tour by Jenny. Lots to see in the house and gallery and good amenities considering size of attraction.

What a well organised and inspirational place. Easy to find, adequate parking, lovely gardens full of statues and art installations, and then the guided tour of the house, and it's Sureal artwork. Very Interesting and knowledgeable guide to a fascinating bit of recent history.

This is a little nugget of charm in the Sussex countryside. Not entirely accessible without a car, but worth a visit.

The guided tour of the house was amazing. When our guide announced that the 50 minute tour had ended I thought we were only halfway through! It felt like only 20 minutes as it was so fascinating. I wanted to do it straight over again. I've lived in Sussex for over 6 years but only just discovered this place. I thoroughly recommend it to everyone with an interest in art.

What a gem!!! It is hard to believe so few people know about it... We LOVED our visit (get the house tour with the gallery and garden admission, so it'll cost 20£ pp). The house isn't huge, but has a vast history and told by the people there you really get to feel at least some of what was going on in that beautiful house in the 1950-60-70's. Don't overthink it like we did before we booked- help a small family owned business in the arts and visit this house, gallery and sweet garden. There is a small village shop opposite the entrance where you can buy some nice drinks and pastries and bring over to the garden to have a picnic (it is allowed)! They also have their own small coffee/tea stall and some gluten-free cake inside to purchase. Give yourself 3 hours (if not more including toilet breaks, shopping in their souvenir shop etc'), to really have time to soak it all in. Enjoy!!
