We visited on the weekend of the Eastbourne Tennis tournament. The place was still getting uninstalled from the occupancy of Media’s during the tournament. So relatively quiet. The lift was out of service for several days. However the staff was very helpful. They helped us access the top floor via another building because we had a sleeping toddler hence stairs were a bit tough for us.
Really enjoyed Emma Stibbon’s exhibition. Love the idea of using her art to educate people about environmental impact on local surroundings.
Lovely place to visit!

I always visit if I’m in the area as there is always something worth seeing. The current exhibition is superbly curated and thought provoking. Well worth a trip as always, not least as it’s free to enter!

Beautiful art gallery building in Eastbourne painted by artist Lothar Gotz in 2019 to celebrate 10 years of opening. Locals love it so much it hasn't been painted back to white. Likely to need touch ups in future so Towner needs a sponsor.

Went to see Turner prize exhibition. Well worth the visit. Loved the big, open feel of this gallery. So spacious that it did not feel at all crowded. Nice cafes. Easy to get to, plenty of parking nearby.

Every town should have a great art gallery and exhibition space. This is a delight it's free for most areas apart from special exhibitions. A great permanent collection of Ravilious paintings. Has both a cafe downstairs and restaurant upstairs fully wheelchair accessible.

Turner prize winner in the great exhibition at the Towner Gallery was a treat to experience! Also loved the Vanessa Bell and Eric Ravillious paintings and prints, such a visual treat! Nice service and coffee upstairs in the restaurant. Lovely selection of unusual artisan gifts and local souvenirs in the ground floor shop.

An incredible art gallery with an amazing hands-on artistic experience for the kids. We made all sorts of things and as soon as we left, I was asked by my eldest when we could go back again. I've already told one of my friends about it and will rave about it to everyone I know! The biggest lift in the entire world provided many giggles too.
Nice cafe, slightly high priced for a kids hot chocolate I'd say, but came out at the perfect drinking temperature and my oat flat white was absolutely delicious.
The art galleries themselves have a great mix of art and quite a laid back feel. Just the right size for little people without them getting too overwhelmed.

Thanks for having us...we will be back!

My heads up would be to wear old clothes if you're going to do a family drop in. I know they change all the time, but we didn't anticipate acrylic paint or drawing ink. I fear a few items of clothes will have lasting marks of the day! It's not the end of the world by any stretch but I was a bit like a mad woman trying to keep my toddler under control!

Went for the Turner Prize show which was free entry. Enjoyed Jesse Darling's sculptures and Barbara Walker's drawings the most. There is also a great room with wonderful Eric Ravilious originals of local landscapes and a large Grayson Perry picture. Outside the gallery has been painted in beautiful geometric colours and there is a very moving piece by Michael Rakowitz’ a glorious winged bull. Well worth a visit

Outstanding art gallery with a permanent free display of wondrous works by Ravilious and his contemporaries as well as visiting exhibitions (usually payable). The current one - 'Melting Ice/Rising Tides' by Emma Stibbon RA - is superb and thought-provoking.

Fabulous gallery, not huge but a nice space. The shop had some great gifts. Cafe was stylish but didn’t have time to pop in. There was a ceramics market when I was there which was excellent.

Fantastic local gallery. 2 interesting exhibitions; Emma Stibbon's melting ice rising tides was engrossing, phonemenal ink water colour s on a huge scale as well as an installation., installation by Maria Amidou also interesting. Loved the lift and how the colours of the Towner reflect in the buildings opposite

Went to see a film. Great coffee at cafe. Cinema seats very comfortable with enough (but not plenty) of leg room. Only issue was the air con blasted very cold air around people's necks.

Came for a visit for the turner and more recently with Amidu Miriam and Emma Stibbon exhibitions. Really nice building which is spacious and well laid out. Staff are super helpful and will happily answer questions about the art displayed. Will be coming back for future installations. Oh and it's free. Yeh free! Will try out the cafe next visit as it looks pretty good too.

Nice friendly gallery. Good mix of modern (20th Century) and newer art.
Void
Good code so too.
Have a look at what films are showing off you want something to make you think.

A fantastic gallery with beautiful artwork and friendly staff, a must when visiting Eastbourne. Our highlights were the fascinating collections of Eric Ravilious with many pieces from the 1930s and the inspired Emma Stibbon exhibition on Melting Ice and Rising Tides with various works on the changing UK coastline at Seven Sisters which is just down the road! It was a lovely and eye-opening visit, a real time of appreciation for the power of art and representation.

I went there to see Turner 2023 exhibition on one Monday without realising that the gallery is closed on Mondays.... I am disappointed but will go again soon to see the exhibition.

A very modern looking art gallery with an amazing collection of paintings. The star of the show for me was the Eric Ravilious collection. The entry is free but there are paid exhibitions happening in the gallery too. Also has a nice restaurant inside. Even the outside of the gallery is a work of art. German artist Lothar Götz transformed the exterior walls of the gallery with his large-scale, colourful geometric artwork, 'Dance Diagonal'. A must visit on your trip to Eastbourne

I really loved my visit to the Towner. The exhibition was very well organised and displayed (Barbara Hepworth), the lift up was ginormous and so we're the scones in the Cornish Cream Tea (very appropriate at a Hepworth exhibition).

Excellent purpose built art gallery in Eastbourne. It’s definitely the highlight of the town and for some arguably the only one. The gallery is spread over three floors with separate rooms allowing for different themed exhibitions. There’s also a nice cafe. Entrance is free although donations are requested.
