Great place to enjoy a drink and conversation. The landlord of this establishment provides excellent service. I would recommend this pub if you're ever in the area. Look forward to going back for another visit myself.

A great pub, very popular with locals. The beers are inexpensive, the focus is on atmosphere rather than profit. A good range of real ales and bar snacks. The landlord is a character. It all makes for a very pleasant place for drinks with friends.

Love this place. It's all about good ale and friends and chat.
One of the only places I know that serves great stouts / porters all year round.

Great pub if you like real ale, don't want to eat and don't mind your surroundings. Nothing flash or smart here, but full of friendly people and good ales and stouts No lager sold here. It's a boozer, not a gastropub.

This is a 'must visit' pub if you love cask ales and are visiting BSE. Six excellent cask ales for just £2.60-£3.00 a pint. It's a traditional, 'proper' pub - no music, no TV, no fruit machines. Just lots of conversations with the local punters and staff.

A proper old pub that just serves real ale mainly, choose your beer, find a table, sit and enjoy then repeat, brilliant.

A very friendly locals pub with great beers. We did not have any food but had some very tasty ale. Everyone was really nice and it's dog friendly.

Such a great pub - friendly atmosphere, live music occasionally, excellent selection of beers including local micro brewers. Love the place - note it is cash only, no card payments.

The Dove is a pub where time seems to have stopped in 1948 or maybe 1973. It is wooden tables, stone washed walls, wooden floors and cable knit jumpers. The priciest pint is £2.65. The landlord sports a wild mane of white hair along with a beard, steel spectacles and (yes) a heavy duty white cable knit jumper. Cash is the only means of transaction here; plastic - Apple or card- is literally waived away. On our visit we had no cash- nothing. As I shrugged on a coat to schlep to an ATM, the proprietor stopped me with a hand on shoulder and a benevolent gaze. “no no, says he. I’ll get the book.” And sure enough he left and returned with a thick red book, pages marked with about a hundred rubber bands. He asked my name and I began the legal description. He cut me off with “Joe’s fine” and notched a debt of £5.25 for two pints in the ledger. “Just come by anytime. No hurry. We don’t open till 5 during the week so just pop it in the letterbox and let us know it’s you.” Last call sounded with a ship’s bell and the pub slowly emptied. As we left in a haze of good feeling I reflected on this extraordinary place: no television, no food and no car park; just good pints to be enjoyed with good people. The Dove is an oasis of calm; a standing riposte to sameness of modern life. Long may she prosper!!

You're not going to get glitz and glam but if you like real ale at great prices this pub is a must go to place. Good selection of ales. And to top it off our furry friends are welcome too. Cash only no card.

A proper pub, great beer kept in perfect condition by Roger the landlord. Very good value prices as well. No food other than crisps, not a gastro pub !

Love this local pub.

Roger really knows how to look after his beer. He consistently has a good choice of real ales on draught priced from £2.50 for a pint. No lager and a small range of spirits and snacks complete the offer. Simple and delightful.

The Dove does not serve food and has a small outside seating area in front.

Lovely warm welcome even though we were strangers. Big selection of real ales and cider. Lovely atmosphere. Definitely will return next time we are in the area and definitely recommended a visit if you love real ale and want a traditional pub.

Stunning institution. A privilege to visit. It’s a friendly pub which cares about beer. My children had their first legal pints there.
